I must admit to having the same super or not dilemma with my (admittedly rather slower) turbo estate.
Still trying to work out if the extra mpg gains make up for the extra cost and if not is it worth the extra to gain 14 more hp?
Back on the subject of the RS6 I personally don't see the point in a big superfast load carrier costing 80k+. You're not going to want to stick say a washing machine in the back or fill it with garden rubbish to take to the tip! Hell I worry about getting my estate that messy and it me cost <8% of the RS6 cost!
I know someone who bought one and got the RS6 specifically so he had a nice big boot and could take his dog to the park. So far the dog's never been in it and he's taken the dog out in his mums golf...
In my Cooper S it says 95 on the flap but read the manual and it says run it on super for its true performance or something like that.Still trying to work out if the extra mpg gains make up for the extra cost and if not is it worth the extra to gain 14 more hp?

I tend to run on tesco 100 or Shell.
Stick the RS6 on a rolling road. Show the difference between 95 and 100 on a modern turbo car.
I know 5th gear years back did a similar test and the good ol'scooby had pretty good gains with super.
Mk5 Golf GTI 95RON 172bhp,BP Ultimate 174bhp, Shell Optimax 177bhp
Hawkeye STI 95RON 235bhp, BP Ultimate 248bhp, Shell 249bhp
How much do people spend on induction kits trying to get a 5bhp gain let alone a 14bhp.

£22,000 (or thereabouts) on options. OK, I sort of get the RS Suspension and ceramic brakes bit, but £6,000 on a stereo? It's a car, not the Royal Albert Hall.
No wonder Audi choked.
Some people spend more time in their car than they do in their living rooms so why not choose the B&O system? Some people care about sound quality No wonder Audi choked.

Come, come. Not everyone who specs them is a wannabe gangster. They offer lots of practical benefits and clearly, whilst subjective, those with an eye for aesthetics think they look pleasing as every marketing photo of a new model has them airbrushed in, including the blooming windscreen!
I just wish I could sensibly have them in-front of the B pillar as it would have prevented the oik in a rusty flatbed from gawping at my OH's legs when stuck in traffic by Temple Meads last Tuesday.
Because of UK law you can't have them all tinted and I think that really breaks-up the shape of the glass-house in profile. So I just have rear blinds for the kids and tell the dog not to wear a heavy jumper.I just wish I could sensibly have them in-front of the B pillar as it would have prevented the oik in a rusty flatbed from gawping at my OH's legs when stuck in traffic by Temple Meads last Tuesday.
I may have been a very naughty boy and had an ultra light smoke tint fitted ahead of the B pillar to soften the unsightly transition you mention. A policeman did drive it along the M4 for me once (ahem) but he never mentioned it or tore them off for me as I've seen them do on TV

B&O is surprisingly popular option on all swanky Audis apparently.
Yep and the price varies massively across the different models (although granted you're probably getting a 'lower spec' B&O setup in 3/4/5 Audis than a 6/7/8)Option prices on identical platform cars can vary quite a bit too - more to do with the ability/willingness to pay than the actual cost+profit margin I presume.
So hang on a minute there Mr Harris, I remember the RS4 video a while back where you said about the B5 RS4 that 'I really, really like it' followed by 'I might think about getting one of these'. Now you're saying that all fast Audi's before the B7 you're not really a fan of?
So which one is it?

A £77k car that doesn't have heated seats or phone preparation as standard?!
The colour suits it well, as it does seem like quite a dull way to spend £100k on a car.
Lack of heated seats as standard is criminal in my book. The colour suits it well, as it does seem like quite a dull way to spend £100k on a car.
I'm sure Audi know their market by now.
Paying extra for heated seats in any modern car of this calibre is a joke.

Are my eyes deceiving me or does your car not have the grille mounted fog/driving lights Chris? The Aussies went for the optional £750 auxiliary inclement illumination pack perhaps?
What you're referring to isn't a fog light, it's a sensor for active cruise control etc. whoami said:

Sorry.I didn't think he'd noticed.
SHE didn't but I fooking did! And lent across to share my thoughts!
Really like these cars, they just look 'right' and also very menacing.
Saw a dark purple one on some website last week. It looked absolutely bloody fantastic, Merlin Purple I believe it's called. I'm fairly sure it's an Audi 'exclusive' range colour but looked good either way! As someone said before it also looks good in red with the black detailing.

Always liked the fast Audi estates, but never bought one due to being scared of potential bork. So instead I've stuck with Range Rovers for doing big sized car stuff.
What?? That^^^ is man logic at it's best! ;-) You didn't buy an expensive but generally reliable audi but you brought an expensive but catastrophically unreliable RR instead? Brilliant. I applaud you sir! ;-)Max_Torque said:
