Whilst the idea of 560bhp in a 5-door estate car is very amusing I utterly fail to see the point of this car. It is far to big to drive quickly on almost all Europes best driving roads, it is completely unsuitable for driving on track (weight, cost of consumables etc) and the performance is just so great as to be unusable on the public highway.

Yes indeed. 21 inch 285 section tyres that it will undoubtedly eat at a prodigious rate, hideous fuel consumption, depreciation on a £100k estate, the mind boggles at how much this would cost to run even before it starts breaking.
It's an extremely easy car to use on the road, very happily to plod around or to warp about at light speed, but it's best just to stick the box in S and ignore the paddles.

Potentially it's the perfect real world daily driver (if you can live with the mpg) doubly so if you have a second car like a 911 etc, I would have to stick to places with large parking bays like blue water.

It would be hard to keep a clean license thou as even a stab on the loud pedal to pass someone puts you 30+ over the limit lol

Come, come. Not everyone who specs them is a wannabe gangster. They offer lots of practical benefits and clearly, whilst subjective, those with an eye for aesthetics think they look pleasing as every marketing photo of a new model has them airbrushed in, including the blooming windscreen!

I just wish I could sensibly have them in-front of the B pillar as it would have prevented the oik in a rusty flatbed from gawping at my OH's legs when stuck in traffic by Temple Meads last Tuesday.
Because of UK law you can't have them all tinted and I think that really breaks-up the shape of the glass-house in profile. So I just have rear blinds for the kids and tell the dog not to wear a heavy jumper.
I totally hate the broken side profile of a half tinted car as well, makes it look like a van

Most RS have the 30% max tint down the side I believe

I have it on good authority hat x3 different FIA world champions (past and present) have bought this new RS6 with their own hard-earned. A couple of them wanted to remain anonymous so as not to annoy their current employers...

Didn't Colin McRae have one too? Might have been an old RS4 come to think of it.

B7 RS4

The RS6 is the Terminator. But too large for UK roads.

I like the car but hate the colour, sorry. It just looks like they forgot to put any paint on after the primer. And I too question charging over £6k for a stereo upgrade. That's silly money.

Rest is nice though. I like a quick estate, but my money, if I had any, would be for the E63 S.

I've completely lost track of the cars Chris owns now.

The only ones I can think of are two range rovers, the S4, and now this.

Read the article it's a press car that he was allowed to spec

Just saw it at the bottom. I read a fair bit of it, but it's not that clear.

ETA: Also the part where it says he was lent one (the white one) made it seem to me like he had no decided to buy.

Obligatory look at my RS6 post...... was actually a tester I had for a week.....

Not sure whether I preferred the E63S though, tough one.
Nice car and colour, but the window tinting looks st. I can't understand the popularity of privacy glass.

Mild window tinting for all side and rear glass - fair enough, but the blacked out glass excluding the front door glass.... Looks st and so little practical benefit.

Anybody got a picture of the RS6 on the 'small' standard fit 20"?

Tinted windows are a little 'drug dealer/I'm very important' and chavvy and whilst they may look cool do nothing for visibility. All in a world where most drivers are not as aware as they should be in the first place. Look at the number of berks who pull out on you without indicating or seemingly looking when on the motorway.

As for DoubleSix, as they say if it is not for sale do not put it in the shop window. Perhaps once out of the car you could try a burka/burqa and hijab. It keeps oiks eyes averted.

That Nardo grey is stunning.

The price is a bit mad, but its not a '100k car' in the real world is it, its an £X-down and £X-amount every month car. In that vein, is it any madder than a RR? I know I'd rather have this...

I think I might be slaughtered here but I really do not see the point of a big fast petrol estate with poorer fuel economy and range (especially the range) when you can a big fast diesel estate with both. Do people really carry their families and dogs and constantly bounce off the rev limiter without any comments? Like "stop it now or I am getting out".

Of course you can tell from the previous paragraph I'd rather have one of these

http://www.worldcarfans.com/113091062782/2014-alpi...

Under 5 seconds to 60 and probably 40mpg real world when going down to Devon seems a better compromise to me.

Note I am not a diesel fan, prefer petrol engines, but in smaller, sportier handling cars.

It's extremely beneficial if you have small children strapped into the rear seats. smile

Absolutely loved my week with this thing, very much preferred it to the E63 AMG as a everyday propitiation and incredibly easy to get sideways when it's greasy.

Good spec!

What was wrong with the S2? I always thought it was a fantastic looking car.
