I suspect it's just the bumper beam.
Its probably worse where you can't see it.

I wouldn't worry about it.
Thanks this not 300mm from a point were it would be an mot failure then?

As I say, I _SUSPECT_ it's the bumper beam, from the fact its rusted when everything else looks OK, and from your description of the position. However without seeing it properly no-one can tell.

Just for interest, I took this out of one of my cars 10 years back.

It seems to be the steel they are made from is different to the rest of the car.

(points for anyone who can name the car without looking at my profile hehe )

Hi guys,

What sort of car should I buy next? BTW, while you're at it, should I divorce my girlfriend or just hammer some frozen sausages into my neighbour's lawn?

The hole is on one of the clips on the bumper beam, is this not too much of a problem then?

Probably OK. If in doubt, whip it out :O and weld it up.

It is the bumper beam this and the rear bumper beam are quite rusted. While the rest of the car is pretty decent really. Is this a common thing. Do they make them out of a poor quality metal?

Would it be expensive to have a new bumper beam/ brackets fitted if needed?

We'd need to know what car before we even guessed!

If it's a 10 year old Punto, the car is a write-off, as the parts will probably cost over £30.

If it's a 2 year old Zonda you probably won't even notice the £100,000 bill.

Why have you insisted on asking multiple questions without giving us the most basic information, all the way through this thread? I guess at least your trolling is continuing to generate replies.

Its a Suzuki swift gls so a cheap car, but I like it there isn't much rust on the car just one bracket on the bumper beam that has a hole in it. Could it just be left then if it not an mot failure?

Iv rust treated the rest of the bumper beam and brackets could I just put some metal filler in to bridge the hole?

That won't work.

Either leave it or sort it properly. I'd be inclined to leave and see what the MOT brings up.
