How are they "targeting" you?
I've slagged off most things on here over the yrs, hell I treat most ppl on ph with contempt because they usually deserve it for being dull fkwits and to be honest I never even remember the usernames of who said what from thread to thread. Wtf would you care about what anyone who drives pissant hatches says? When they get decent car then they might say something worthwhile.
Reporting threads that I start, taking what I write out of context to make me look bad, real childish stuff. I'm just wandering if it's a Honda thing, seems to be a problem across the board. Rather amusing to be honest...I've slagged off most things on here over the yrs, hell I treat most ppl on ph with contempt because they usually deserve it for being dull fkwits and to be honest I never even remember the usernames of who said what from thread to thread. I've never understood how people become so loyal to car brands they become completely blinkered to everything else.
They also build up a passion to hate the opposite brand often more than they like their own.
I have the same confusion about soccer teams too. They also build up a passion to hate the opposite brand often more than they like their own.
Or anything, really.
I've had loads of cars so have joined loads of forums over the years. I have to say, a Honda one I joined (think it was Civic Life or something) was pathetic. I was breaking an EK9 Civic Type-R, they had some policy that said you need something like 6 months of membership and 200 posts to be able to advertise items. They also had this donation counter at the top of the forum that said how much money they received and how much they needed. They weren't doing that well by the looks of it.
The site was full of Civic bum boys, the majority had base spec dogs and they all go bat st crazy for anything Type-R and JDM. I was pretty keen to sell on there so I asked if there was a possibility of me making a donation (think I offered £50) to be allowed to sell items. I explained the parts would be cheaper than the going rate on ebay. I thought that was a decent request, lots of forums work like that.
Within 10 mins I had 3 pages of abuse and i'd been banned. I sold everything on ebay in the end and those same people that were slagging me off probably paid over the odds for the parts.
I recently joined a Corolla T-Sport forum to also break a car on. You'd think the T-Sport owners would be a similar demographic to the Civic forum. They were the complete opposite. Asked me to become a paid member which I did and I sold loads of cheap parts on the forum. Everyone was nice and friendly and happy with the parts. I wasn't accused of being a scammer or anything like that which I got on the Civic forum.
The other forum that was a bit fanboy was an RX8 one. I joined up and posted a thread on the possibility of an engine swap. It was basically 4 pages of people telling me to re-build an RX8 lump. They couldn't grasp my issue with the car. It was that it's too heavy on fuel. I don't mind getting 20 mpg out of an engine but it needs to produce the horsepower to justify it (say 350ish like the AMG Mercs) and the RX8 doesn't. I sacked off the idea of an engine swap in the end

It's not just cars to be honest. They also build up a passion to hate the opposite brand often more than they like their own.
Gaming forums are full of the XBOX / PS / Nintendo devotees and will accept no criticism of their machine, nor will they accept a rival machine has it's benefits. I once suggested on a Playstation website that a Wii was a good family gaming machine. I think Stuart Hall in a creche would have got a better reception
It's not a new thing either. Back in the day, I was a ZX Spectrum owner, and Commodore 64 owners were in my opinion a bit sub-normal.

People that are into cars think the car they've bought is the best - that's why they bought it.
Exactly. It happens in all areas, the Canon/Nikon arguments on a photography forum were intense! In the end they settled their differences, banded together and ganged up on Sony.

I can relate to this. - I used to think like that...when I was twelve.Gaming forums are full of the XBOX / PS / Nintendo devotees and will accept no criticism of their machine, nor will they accept a rival machine has it's benefits. Anyway, everybody knows consoles are crap compared to a PC...
We used to run a car review page on our website.
The premise was my 10 year old lad was shown a pic and asked to rate the car.
Without fail, single make forums reacted badly to a poor 'review', some went OTT, AlfaOwner went nuclear. All over some spoof 'review' by a 10 yr old kid.
There was the obvious name-calling, but we also had threats of physical violence.
I should have sued for his PTSD but unfortunately he found the abuse hilarious and he was a legend in the playground (but the mates' Mums were unimpressed).

Civinfo seems to generally be a nice forum for "normal" Honda people.
By normal do you mean people who go out actively searching for somebody to race with on the road and others who believe that the new Type R will be a better driver's car than a DC2 because it's quicker around a track... Some are genuinely a good bunch others are idiots, I suppose it's the same in every walk of life... Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
