Now I've been a member of numerous forums for a number of years, fishing mainly and a couple of car forums including a Honda Civic forum... I didn't understand just how deep this fanboy stuff ran until I said that I didn't really like the new Type R or Mugen rear spoilers and I may of said that the Mugen fenders for the FN2 are a little bit Ford S Max.... They now seem to be targeting me for having an opinion that differs to theirs, are they all this mad or have I just joined a dodgy forum? Any of you experienced similar?

Perhaps ask if you should either install either a Microsoft or Apple controlled entertainment system in your Honda.

I suspect mk4 Golfs must have a fanboi thing going on too.

I'm no angel, but there's something about the way they are 'driven'. hehe

They just don't seem to like a neutral opinon for some reason, if everything Honda did was superb they wouldn't spend thousands making them look worse...

Ask them why Honda never specced squashy things in the suspension of the Civic Type-R.

10+ years ago I had a Ford Focus and joined an owners club.

Fast forward today it's the same people but they've upgraded their 1.6 Zetec and everyone looks up to them.

Looking back, it's all a bit sad.

I answered a vote on twitter the other day; who is better, Messi or Ronaldo. My only crime was to vote for Messi and I was set upon by some special person who called me a fan boy. Had to laugh, as I was stoking the fire!

Pistonheads has the worst combination - blinkered brand fans how view any criticism of a car built by their beloved manufacturer as an all-out attack on their religion and people who read about a problem with one car and assume every other vehicle produced by that manufacturer will suffer from the same flaw. This inevitably causes some friction. hehe

How are they "targeting" you?
I've slagged off most things on here over the yrs, hell I treat most ppl on ph with contempt because they usually deserve it for being dull fkwits and to be honest I never even remember the usernames of who said what from thread to thread. Wtf would you care about what anyone who drives pissant hatches says? When they get decent car then they might say something worthwhile.

Being blinkered about a car isn't specific to a manufacturer. It can be said of the likes of Renault, Ford and Honda right the way through to Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren owners. If you get upset about it, step away from the internet. People that are into cars think the car they've bought is the best - that's why they bought it.

Frequent forum members are an opinionated bunch at the best of times. I've enjoyed all the cars, none of which are spectacular. In an ideal world I'd like to try and own as many performance cars as possible but there's that small issue of funds.

I try to stay away from one-make manufacture car forums nowadays. They can be a tight bunch with a stereotype attitude.

Unfortunately as I've experienced it alienates many enthusiasts from using their forums.

It does seem to depend upon the marques involved or, dare I say it, the main reason why someone purchased the care in the first place.

For example, a few years ago there was some good humoured banter between members of the Nissan 350Z and Mazda RX-8 owners forums.
But if you so much as hinted that to an Audi TT owner that his car wasn't the absolute best thing this side of a 911 Turbo you could expect to get beaten to a pulp with a (designer*) handbag. punch

*(yes, I am stereotyping a bit)
