The other forum that was a bit fanboy was an RX8 one. I joined up and posted a thread on the possibility of an engine swap. It was basically 4 pages of people telling me to re-build an RX8 lump. They couldn't grasp my issue with the car. It was that it's too heavy on fuel. I don't mind getting 20 mpg out of an engine but it needs to produce the horsepower to justify it (say 350ish like the AMG Mercs) and the RX8 doesn't. I sacked off the idea of an engine swap in the end
I noticed that about the RX8 forum a few years back when I was doing my research and questioned the hot start issues and engine rebuilds. I was doing my research and a few members were honest and mentioned that the need for a rebuild is highly likely.

I will pick one up, but I'm not too sure if the price will drop more.

M3Cutters - unbelievable ire and dislike over the new M3/4 from those that have the old E9x M cars (or those that have not long bought an 'old' E9x M car...)

It is, frankly, baffling the amount of hate even within the same car manufacturer.

I daren't go on the "Best Barge/Look at this" thread and mention that rattly and rusty old Mercs from 1990 aren't simply the best vehicles money can buy. I would be hunted down and killed.

Haven't even looked at the new M3/M4 forum yet. But I Have An E36 M3 saloon and an E90 M3 saloon and if I had the cash would have the new M3 in a heartbeat! smile

I hang around in a fair few French car circles, and have seen masses of fan boys here. At French Car Show at Castle Combe this year there were a few arguments that broke out between groups, you could hear so much crap being spoken about other makes and models. Last year the Saxo & 106 owners club (obvious rivals) stayed up drinking and had a big fight. Its fking hilarious.

Erm, aren't the Saxo and 106 virtually the same car? To ad some balance, I recently joined the 406 coupe club and they're a friendly, helpful bunch. But go on to Retro Rides and try pointing out that cut springs, stretched tyres and matt black paint on a previously tidy car is anything other than the greatest idea ever and behold the fury of the wannabe mods descent upon you

They are exactly the the same other than appearance yes. But they are mainly owned by angry young'uns!

I love taking the piss out of this whole 'matt black, negative camber and slammed' scene all the time and getting flamed. I dont really care about it (although I do think it looks awful) but its funny to wind up the fan boys.

Their lack of vision is annoying though. I recently bought a motorbike with a really nice paint job as standard. One of the first comments was "make it matt black" which would look st. I had similar comments when I bought my lovely white 306 rallye.

Out of all the one make forums the mx5nutz forum is one of the best around. Brilliant community whatever part of the country your in with regional meets and event throughout the year. The last big show jap fest 2 had around 150 cars on stand by far the biggest on the day and won stand of the show which was a fitting tribute to a very well known member on the forum that passed away earlier in the year.
The best thing not one mx5 was the same compare that to the Subaru stands full of blue with gold alloys, Hondas etc all the same slammed with stretched tyres etc.

Yes there are a few fanboys on there that cant see anything past the mx5 majority are pretty level headed. Meet aload of people through sell mx5 parts, also through runs ive organised and all have been great to deal with and meet a load of friends through it.

I find this place to be the worst for it specially in f1 threads specially after the race with the fkwits come out to play and end up with a 40 page bh fest about 2 certain merc drivers.

Reminds me of that great story that StottyZR (isn't he called StottyEvo now?) told on here a few months ago. Turned up at a house party in his MG ZR, someone insulted it, saying it looked like his mother's car, resulting in a fight. I think Stotty ended up getting biffed for his troubles whilst defending his car. Definitely worth a chuckle.
