I used to use the PH classifieds all the time to buy and sell. I rarely look at them now and never advertise a car on here. My lack of interest coincides with when they started charging for adverts. Now I find the majority of the stuff on here is from dealers and lots of it is boring stuff. PH classifieds used to be my go to place for looking for the weird and wonderful.
My searching routine now goes Ebay > Forums specific to the car > Auto Trader > Gumtree > Pistonheads
This.. Searching for a nice 330 or something which PH used to be full of, loved ones too.. and all you get is 3 year old 320d's from dealers. My searching routine now goes Ebay > Forums specific to the car > Auto Trader > Gumtree > Pistonheads
I think the new format ruined it.
I gave up trying to sell my wife's R56 Cooper S a couple of months ago. Before then I'd had great success selling cars through PH, but with virtually no interest I just sold it to a mate of mine in the trade. He sold it in no time. Why? He can offer finance. People don't want to pay outright for cars unless they're less than about £5k nowadays I don't think.

I haven't used them for a good couple of months. It's an annoying waste of time trying to view anything in the PH Classifieds now; don't know if it's just because I'm on an iPad? But it's got to the point where I don't even bother know.
Which is pretty serious, as I used to spend more time on them than the forums!
With you on this one. Used to enjoy popping into the classifieds to have a look around at what was out there. Ended up buying a 205 gti on a whim as it caught my eye and was just up the road. Not easy to explain why we needed one to mrs Rex. Which is pretty serious, as I used to spend more time on them than the forums!
Now it is just a painful experience in there on any type of device.
