4 cyl ones fail even more regularly but you'll get a good used one for 150 quid. Plenty of povo spec 318-320 snotters have been written off so there are more used ones.

As with all BMW's, the only ones worth spending proper money on are six cylinder ones. The 325i and 330i manual Coupes are lovely cars to drive, pretty much the last to have the proper BMW feel and spirit. The F30 type four cyl turbo cars are very good but just not the same. Horses for courses etc.
