15K for a 3rd car - interesting and good residuals
Discussion
As the title says really...
Ideas?
MPG or reliability not necessarily important (this car won't do many miles) but residuals very important as it would likely be sold in 18-24 months to fund a house move.
Currently got a V6 Clio (255) as our 3rd car - it is brilliant and I love it to bits but I have "ticked the box" and am in half a mind to change to something that is bigger and with at least four seats. I was thinking about M3/M5s or a Monaro/VXR8 but think they aren't quite as unique as the Clio and might not be as stable financially or as easy to sell on when the time comes.
Early stages yet but after ideas.

Good suggestion with the DB7.
I did initially type a detailed post but deleted it as I didn't want to lose readers in my waffle. I "should" have added that we have two boys (one is 5 and the other is 1) so space for a baby seat is a must if I am going to change and opt for four seats.
I tried a DB7 a few years back when I was selling my RS6. The baby seat couldn't fit in it so I opted for the 911 - I was young and a bit daft. Had no kids and an RS6 then had a kid and bought a 911.

C63 AMGs are still out of budget for what I want to spend but I was looking at them before.
Good call on the Maserati.
I like the Caterhams but I sold my Westfield (Cosworth Turbo) to get into a tin-top toy. If changing I would ideally want something I could use on a daily basis if need be.

A bit leftfield but what about something like a Mk2 RS2000 Escort. its interesting, old Fords always have a good following and road going cars not modified for motorsport will become hard to find soon. Fits a family of four, obviously not isofix but may have rear seatbelts?

For m3s you may get a tatty e30 but that will come with bills.
An e36 m3 imola edition gt2 could be a good bet - two in the classifieds c.15-17k now.
E60 m5? Maybe but also running costs astronomical!
E46 m3 cs .
Best of those must be m3 gt2 as there are only 38 ish left, rarest m3 ever and theyre shooting up value wise now.

Maybe try a Monaro?
They're still pretty unique (fine there are over twice as many according to how many left, around 570 instead of about 225) but then they don't look like a normal car that's got a bodykit on, I'd wager more people will know that it's a Clio than will know what a Monaro is.
£15k would get you your choice of Monaro VXRs, you'd be just as well to spend say £12k and keep it in good condition, and you'll get that back. Prices for a decent VXR have stayed fairly constant in the 3 years I've been paying attention.
Alternatively, you could get a cheaper 5.7 non VXR version for £8,000, and the car in parts alone will be worth £5k so they're unlikely to drop below that!
Go out in one that's had the exhaust sorted, you'll be hooked
4 massive comfy seats too, and there are a bunch of owners who've used car seats in the back so can tell you which ones fit for which ages etc.
