I guess the problem is that a longitudinal i4 adds quite a lot of weight because the wheelbase has to be so much longer.
The seating position seemed to be further back than most Mid engined layouts. Comparing it to picks of 2 eleven and the like. When the pics first emerged of it I remember thinking how it appeared to look more front engined than mid.

Turbo'ing this car moves it away from its whole ethos surely? A supercharger would've made a lot more sense if they wanted to give it extra go.

Perhaps a result of the space taken up by the inboard front suspension? I guess the lack of windscreen makes the front look longer too.

True, but the mono (I compare it to it, but obviously the budgets involved were rather different) is also the same suspension set up design. I just assumed the longer front was due to aesthetics rather than anything practical or necessary. I don't have enough technical knowledge to make any real insights!

I think the long front end look is due to the lack of windscreen.
With the screen on it looks a lot more balanced front to rear.

The proportions look really good in profile.

I quite like the looks, even the front - quite pointy. Maybe part of the problem is 'we' are so used to cars with bluff front ends (for safety) rather than the sleek noses of the past.

My choice would probably take another step towards civility with the Ginetta though, or the forthcoming Zenos hardtop.

Yes, putting the screen on really changes the look of the car but if you've not seen it in the flesh I'd hold off deciding on the looks as it really does look great in real life.

Only thing that's confusing me at the moment is once the 'get you home' fabric roof is on, how do you get in and out with no doors to open?

In the same way as an R500 - the roof has zips which you open for entry an do up when seated - POP!

Drove this on Saturday and I'm an ex Elise and Exige owner (current r500 and 911c4s)- out of the box as a prototype this has the measure of the Exige on the alpine circuit at Millbrook. Zero lag and most of the 400nm from 2500 rpm.

Off a corner there are plenty of cars that will struggle to stay with it. Feels more like a Boxster than a lotus, more mechanical grip and very compliant. I loved my Exige and have been a lotus fan for years - drive the Zenos and see it in the flesh before judging it.

They're even offering test drives and free passenger rides at circuits between now and new year in the development cars (see their website)- very confident move with a prototype and for once you get to give feedback before final design sign-off - probably more useful use of opinions than on here! wink

Ah I see, I've never had a car like this so nothing to compare it against.

Did you get round the Alpine circuit in the S? They were replacing the rear wishbone after it's excursion in to the bushes when I had to go get my train back to Glasgow, so I ended up going round in the miss-firing standard car. I was impressed by the ride quality and the grip level but it would've been nice to have been in the turbo.

Really impressed that they're getting us involved so early and letting us see the ups and downs of the development process, a very brave move that I've never heard of before.

I did and it was most impressive - yet to have anti roll bars fitted yet handled brilliantly (and despite the new corner being tracked!)

I'm hooked on 400nm at 2500rpm in 650kg - effortless

A little smokey in third on corner exits - in a good way!

Got my built date confirmed clap E10S in Screamin' Green with the trackpack and few other extras.

Can't wait to get my hands on it, will be a few months yet though.

I'm going to make the trip this weekend to Birmingham to have a look at the production car on the stand along with the windscreen.
Anyone else going?
