Turbocharged Zenos E10 detailed

New 'S' model announced with another 50hp and the Track Pack option too

We're getting ever closer to the first drives and deliveries of the Zenos E10. To further everyone's excitement, the Zenos team has added an E10 S to the range.

Pushrod dampers among the standout features
Pushrod dampers among the standout features
Power is up to 250hp from 200hp making it the 'natural choice for discerning road and track driving enthusiasts' according to Zenos. Notably that's now with a turbocharged Ford Ecoboost engine as opposed to the naturally aspirated unit in the standard E10.

Top speed for the E10 S is around 135mph and 0-60mph will take less than five seconds. So similar performance and power to the Lotus Elise S that it will hope to pinch a few customers from.

The Zenos will be cheaper than the Lotus though, with a starting price of £29,995 compared to £35,600 for the supercharged Elise. A £3,000 Track Pack adds a six-speed gearbox, limited-slip diff, composite seats with four-point harnesses, quick release wheel and adjustable platform dampers. Sounds like money well spent.

Production of the new Zenos model will start early next year with deliveries due to begin soon after. Another two models separate from the E10 are due in the next five years so there should be plenty more to report from Zenos soon. And a hopefully a drive as well.

My god that is ugly, how anyone could think that could take sales away from an Elise is mad!

Not the best colour scheme - it is very well shaped in the metal though.

Very interesting bit of kit IMO.

Just not for export sadly. Also would like something with a windscreen an a roof. Think it is in the pipeline as the E11. Looooong wait though if it is ever made EU compliant at all. Anyways, that could be the fabled modern day Elan that many are looking for.

Even has a backbone chassis:

This project looked so promising, but the styling and design of this car is just all wrong, shame really.

The E10 is not aimed at the Elise really. More at a gap left from the 2-eleven, 340r. E11 and E12 will be more everyday cars

There is a windscreen available, not yet seen it in the flesh, and there will be a kind of half roof a-la-seven:

The look is subjective, I like it as I've put one of the first orders in. The one in the pictures above is an evaluation prototype, i.e. as rough as it gets. Go and look at it if you can, and it is very well put together.
And after the first drive last saturday, well, I'm really happy with it!beer

There's a couple of really important points missing in this article

a) The torque figure. From 200-or-so it has been doubled to 400Nm. In a car that weighs so little I bet it pulls like a train. Surprised at such a low top speed though - maybe it is conservative until a big stretch of tarmac becomes available.

b) The pictures above are of their prototype car. The green and black show car I saw at Goodwood looks stunning in the flesh. I've followed the story from their Autosport debut and am really looking forward to seeing the 'real thing' when production starts.

From the conversations I had with the Zenos team at Goodwood, they are hoping to export these to Europe and USA.

With the heritage of the company's owners I hope this car and it's siblings become the benchmark for new-age affordable British sports cars.

I think it's much what Lotus originally intended the Elise to be, before they relaised it was nigh on impossible to get a car with step-over sides through type approval without making it almost impossible to get in and out. The 2-11 was the first thing that spang to mind from more recent offerings, though. smile

I actually quite like the styling if they can sort out the fit and finish. Looking forward to seeing the more road focussed models if they can manage them. smile

AFAIK max speed is not known yet, or this is what I understood from Mark Edwards as a reply to the specific question. But in my opinion is not what the car is about!

And yes, they already have distributors for the US and I believe Japan (I'm sure someone from the team will be along soon to confirm)

And yes, green looks really good smile

I like the look of it without the windscreen and I think its a bargain. If I were in the market for a lightweight sportscar in the £30-40k bracket and could not afford more, I'd go to Lotus, then visit these chaps and I think I would choose this providing it had excellent dyamics...

If the screen was curved and a lot less steep, it would make it look a lot better.

Christ, looks awful! For me, a toy needs to have a look-back-over-your-shoulder factor. I'd just get an S1 Elise and put a Duratec in it...

I really like the look of these, judging by the team involved the dynamics should be very impressive.

Have to agree on it needing a functional and well proportioned screen though.

It looks like a well finished bit of design too, looking forward to the first reviews of it.

I saw it at FoS, and I thought it was ugly. Compare the looks with KTM who managed to make their car look menacing and purposeful. It's a good attempt but they need to work on the styling.
Reminds of something else....

Nice concept and I wish them well.

Now, I know this is a drivers device and not a looker, but guys sort out the 'sad face'. Being distinctive is good, but I'm sure that something better can be grafter onto the front. I understand function over form, and I have a Caterham which is light-years away from being 'attractively styled' - but it's also not what you'd call 'ugly'.

In current guise I'd say the face is enough of an obstacle to lose precious sales and would not be that hard to improve. Just IMO though.

They bought some shell to Wilton.

It was a poor effort imo.

I'll fitting shell with no brakes, no engine, and plastic fantastic, no wonder it's cheaper than other stuff out there.

Not sure why any one would put their name down on one.

What happened to Brooke , they were much better cars but still no market.

This looks cheap and you would not want to crash in it.

Best thing like this was the old caterham cat and that did not sell either.
The Westfield xtr2 also poor seller.

All these cars failed and looked much better than this :-(

Not a fan aesthetically, the front engine looks despite being mid engined, looks a little wrong with the styling choices.

I'm not really sure why they have gone with a transverse layout either in a track car, my guess is its so the platform can be used in there further more 'road friendly' sports cars.

I remember the weight stated was rather high fro the e10, but 200-250bhp and a 0-60 time at >5 secs seems a little slow to me on sticky tires. What was the 240bhp 2-eleven, 3.8?

The whole chassis concept of this car seems to be based on the fact they could only afford one extrusion section. It's a sub-optimal for rigidity and it's a great thing to be squashed against in a side impact.

Not really moving the game on much.

Yes it's cheaper than an Elise shocker... The lotus has a roof and windshield and an international dealer support network

The issue is it's still to expensive for the sum of it's 5k worth of parts.

Base car £30k so most will add 5k it's a £35k car and the Elise S charged cooled car would be a no brainer choice. ESP the deals lotus have on ATM to help you buy one.
It,s a nice try but they should have done more market research on what people want.
