You can actually still tax a car for a month as a trader. You need to do it at a Post Office and direct debit using the main V5 (it won't work online) and you will lose any portion of unused months but it is possible.

The loop hole is that the DD mandate does not need to be in the same name or address as that on the V5.

Hassle IMO but possible.

Surely that would put your details onto the v5 though?

I'm out of trading a while...

Won't it refuse because the car is "with trade" ?

Did anyone else know that DVLA no longer issue the little paper license triangle for trade plates?
