Going to have a look tomorrow... Really hope it doesn't disappoint.
I wasn't when I went to the previews Jaguar held, I really like the interior design and the dash, whilst not the best there is, was better than it looked from the pictures. But this is PH so surely the way it drives is most important and that will have to wait.

Sat in an XE today.
Did someone forget to tell them at Jaguar that they sell a premium product? I thought I'd stepped into Kia or a Hyundai.
Simply awful. Poor materials, horrible design, cheap looking...
Audi and BMW interior designers must be laughing their heads off.
Not the same one I sat in then, made the 3 series look like dullsville on a really dull day.Did someone forget to tell them at Jaguar that they sell a premium product? I thought I'd stepped into Kia or a Hyundai.

You may be right but that would be a pre-production car so not necessarily representative of customer cars. They are much better aligned than Mercedes managed with one generation of E-Class where they were very noticeably wrong on all cars - can't remember which designation it was but probably coincided with them stopping building them as well as they always had previously in the 90s - although that was a design not build problem.mondeoman said:

Agreed. Was at the car show today, made a point of it to sit in all of them and have a good look at the interior. Audi needs to step up their game as well. Between the Merc and the Jag, they get a solid third place in terms of interior. Was pleasantly surprised by the Jag. The merc however, looks like it's a generation ahead. Everything about it just seems right and feels expensive. Like a smaller s class if that makes sense.
Also:
Keep it out of warranty, on the other hand, and if you get a diesel-only fault, like DPF or EGR or DMF, or on NA petrol vs turbo diesel comparisons, the turbo, it soon adds up, and again you lose.

The petrol is 40% higher, at 20k/year miles (hardly a huge number?), it's not hard to work out that might easily be £800/year!
On top of that, most taxing in most countries works on CO2.
So, in my eyes, you REALLY have to want a petrol engine to justify it.
What's the list price difference between the two? Usually diesels cost a fair bit more to buy, which you only see a bit of back in resale, so if the cost of ownership is increased by a couple of grand and you only keep it three years, that's your £800 wiped out.On top of that, most taxing in most countries works on CO2.

I have to admit I was quietly excited about the new XE apart from the fact you have to be over sixty years of age to be interested in a Jag in the first place...but that does look bland to say the least. The 3 series is dull to look at too so you can see why they haven't pushed the boat out with the styling to be fair because it hasn't done the 3 series any harm...so if you cant beat them...join them!

Well done Jaguar - just need to get folk to try them to realise that Jag are so ahead of the BM/Merc game
I think JLR would take "just as good" right nowI spent an afternoon with a couple in November. Didn't drive them, kinda pre-production showroom play. The White one referenced here was outstandingly dull....I could hardly remember it on the tube home. They had a red 3:0 r-sport flash thing too. It was beautiful. Really, really beautiful...but small too, really small. Reminded me of when I first sat in an IS Lexus in the early 00's.
Comments on the interior in the post above rang true for me. Dull and made by Airfix....will hugely struggle against the Germans when they have 99mg/g CO2 thingies as well.
In summary, arrived at viewing excited, left gutted.

But this is England, so the way it sits in a traffic jam is also very important.
Jaguar aren't selling cars to the Welsh/Scottish/Northern Irish then? DonkeyApple said:
I'm sure Jaguar intend to export to many weird and wonderful foreign markets. But I don't see the relevence of this on this particular thread.
Typical Londoner, ignoring the rest of the UK and paying more taxes to subisidise a lot of the rest of the nation and... and... erm... Anyway, back on topic...

Bearing in mind how many of these cars are bought in no-extra-cost white, it needs to look good in white. See an IS300h for an example of how to do it. This photo may be unkind but to my eyes, that doesn't look great.I'd like this to be good, but I have to say that if one were looking for an alternative to a 320d then an IS300h looks more interesting than this at the moment. Time will tell, but I hope to be wrong.
