Change it to what? The legendary two-arsed, no-headed Big Cat of Gaydon?

It's not symmetrical! NOT SYMMETRICAL.

Renaming the company to JAGDAL would be an improvement, ЯAUUAR more so.

Actually ЯAUUAR also sounds good too, retaining the big cat association whilst newly appealing to the key demographic of West Country pirates.

I suppose I'll start as Marketing Director next week.

The back is the worst part. It's dull, and the circular parts (top cut off) in the lights look like sleepy or lazy eyes, and they're too close together making it look a bit 'special'.

The cut off circle does not have to have this sleepy look however, as jaguar have got it right recently... the f-type looks angry or grumpy...

Alfa got it fairly right with the Brera too IMO which also looked angry/grumpy...

I think the rear's actually grown on me.
Is it me though or is the bootlid a bit out of line, lights on the lid look lower.
I might have mild OCD but that "leaping cat" Jaguar Logo upsets me. Surely a car needs a bit of symmetry on it's rear end? I would have to change or delete it before purchasing/leasing one of these
Forget that, it's leaping in the wrong direction.

Given the average age of a Jaguar driver, a leap to the 'left' is practically unheard of.

Well, no. Obviously one of them is a question mark.

And you should take it up with Toys Yah Us before you come trampling over my new vision.

Agreed, the leaper as a badge doesn't work for me either - first seen on the XF. The growler would have been much better.

Sounds very promising. Also looks a lot better in blue than the fridge white they've been showing so often. Just need to get past that bland interior...

I think it's generally accepted that the front looks good, but IMO it looks especially good in black and de-chromed.

Thanks for the link. I've read the driving impressions and it sounds very promising indeed. It seems like there's a fair chance I might like it and prefer it to my 3 series. My criteria are 1) controls, 2) handling, 3) refinement at a 70mph cruise and lastly it must have a tow bar, roof bars, and folding rear seats. I think the XE sounds like it matches those criteria very well indeed.

It's looking nicer with a few more photos and may look even better in the flesh. Not easy to reinvent the wheel in the small saloon market; they are all going to look a bit samey.

It's the top story in this week's auto express. You'd think with that level of exposure, the proof reading would be spot on... biggrin

Saw this in the flesh in my local Jaguar showroom yesterday - is a beautiful looking car in the flesh, photos don't do it justice.

Lovely low slung driving position and the interior looks and feels really nice.

The indicator/wash-wipe/ stalks have a really nice feel to them as does all the other switch gear.

With the reviews now out, highly rating this car I think there may be a new ultimate 'ultimate driving machine' on the block!

yes It certainly has every right to be a better drive than a 3 series. 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' is of course ridiculous, but for a saloon car I strongly believe nothing's ever got close to a 3 series for driving pleasure through the corners. The XE may well not just be close, but it may be even better! I'm certainly tempted by what I've seen so far smile

I'm not really bothered about how a car looks, but I think the black one in the photo above looks very nice indeed smile

Bearing in mind how many of these cars are bought in no-extra-cost white, it needs to look good in white. See an IS300h for an example of how to do it. This photo may be unkind but to my eyes, that doesn't look great.

I'd like this to be good, but I have to say that if one were looking for an alternative to a 320d then an IS300h looks more interesting than this at the moment. Time will tell, but I hope to be wrong.
I thought I'd quote myself after a chance encounter with a white XE in the Midlands this weekend. I saw a white Jag in my rear view mirror that wasn't an XF, and I tucked in behind an HGV to be slow enough to be overtaken and get a good look. (It was on white plates with red lettering, like trade plates.)

It was on large wheels and had one of those green/red/chrome S badges on the front. It looked better than the above photo suggested. It wasn't "Miura" beautiful (or even "F type" beautiful) but it was a relatively neat and handsome design. Some would call it anonymous, some would call it subtle. I would have liked one on my driveway in a darker colour.

Anyway, for the TL; DR crowd the reason I'm reposting is this: the above photo isn't flattering and in spite of my first opinion it does look better in the metal. I still think an IS300h looks better.
