I'm bored so playing half arsed accident investigation from the skidmarks. Caravan was changing between lane 1 and 2 whilst slowing for the toll, it's been hit by the white 3 series locking up its n/s/f wheel. Caravan has hit the n/s barrier and the tow car has spun into the o/s barrier.
o/s rear of the caravan is damaged as is the n/s front of the bmw which doesn't look to have a tow bar, where's the tow car? BMW driver is the one looking sheepish on his own by the drivers door, all the others were in the tow car going for some old peoples gang bang dogging session
PAH you call your self a member of pistonheads?! The BMW is quite CLEARLY a 5 SERIES!!!!!!o/s rear of the caravan is damaged as is the n/s front of the bmw which doesn't look to have a tow bar, where's the tow car? In the past I worked on Motorway recovery and the one thing that was clear was when ever a caravan was involved it was always clear to the "experts" it was their fault. Yet in all but one the reasons were not down to bad loading, it was down to people running into them, wind blowing them over, just like it does to lorries, mechanical fault just like it does to other vehicles.
So before all the "experts" get on again with their anti caravan views, remember we need facts. Just because someone likes a certain way of life does it make it wrong? The vast majority of the public seem to favour restrictions on speed so will people be so chirpy when those in charge start restricting our hobbies and interests even more?
The other thing to remember we as a nation produce and export caravans like no others do, the industry and income from it is massive. It employs thousands so lets have a bit of prespective after one accident.
Yes I have had a caravan, now I have a motorhome to tow my track car, I have driven all over Europe and the amount of accidents I see rarely feature caravans, they usually involve idiots who do not pay attention in cars mainly.
Now all new drivers do have to take a trailer test before being allowed to tow anything above a camping trailer so that issue has been addressed.
It always makes me smile when people say they get stuck behind a caravan for miles and miles, says more about their ability to overtake than anything.

You're right, the tow car was facing the other way wedged into the O/S crash barrier.
It can be seen in the uncut version of the picture you posted...
But guess which person in the picture owns the (ex)caravan? It can be seen in the uncut version of the picture you posted...

Really?I'd say it usually says more about the inability of at least two of the people at the front of the inevitably bunched-up queue ahead of me, behind the caravan at the head of the trundling column.
I don't smile when I encounter caravans on single carriageway roads whilst driving a car.
Camping, yes.
Camping barns/bunkhouses, yes. (Brisk, not painfully slow)motor homes, yes.
Caravans, no.

Everyone on here is saying caravanners are too slow, all the armchair accident investigators on the Daily Mail comments section are saying they go too fast. Everyone thinks they know better than everyone else and everyone believes they know exactly what's gone wrong just from reading an article about an accident and seeing a few pictures. None of it is true or accurate, it just depends on people's mindset whether it's, "Everyone should get out of my way because I'm important," or, "Speed kills and everyone except me is a maniac."

I would wager that 95% of all you guys taking the piss out of the poor caravan owner would be in tears if the accident involved an overturned car trailer with a rally / race car trashed. There's no difference in my eyes, its still someones pride and joy. Towing is towing whether it be car transporters or caravans. The same restrictions apply and the same accidents can occur. I suspect the centre of gravity of a trailer with a classic series Landrover is considerably higher than most caravans. I've towed both over plenty of years and the closest I ever came to an accident was towing the rally car! It got all snaky on me going downhill...
Sorry but I don't like seeing accidents involving ANY vehicle, always sad.
Quite so.Sorry but I don't like seeing accidents involving ANY vehicle, always sad.
Some of these comments are pathetic, to say the least.
People love to make thoughtless comments on here that they would never say to someones face.

I tow a caravan, and on an A road will sometimes build up traffic behind me. I can tell you that won't be me holding everyone up, it will be the fking Toyota Yaris doing 35 mph on a bend and then speeding up just enough on a short straight to prevent me passing.
Agreed. Often I have some bell end right on the tail of my caravan obviously in a state of emergency needing to overtake.Often, they have tailgated for so long and close they fail to see the cause further ahead of me. They then become parallel to me and see the traffic ahead and can't get in front so have to drop back again

To you guys gloating about the destruction, give yourselves some pause to consider that someone's P&J, as well as whatever contents that were inside, has been completely ruined.
Yeah, fking hilarious.
Calm down dear. It is quite an amusing site to see.Yeah, fking hilarious.
Whilst it may we have been his p&j, he'll be getting a brand new one shortly. I wouldn't be too worried!
