Is it possible he was just an idiot in a rental car?

Oh, it's one of those weddings.
So true. Far too often I've seen these convoys of hire cars for weddings driving like the roads are their own. Hope the renter receives a big bill for damages.

Probably lose the deposit on the suit too laugh

Still, picking at small flames is a fairly natural reaction so don't see the problem there. I wonder what happened? Hopefully just the excess fuel burnt off and that was the end of it!

Why all the hate?

From the video it looks like he just blips the throttle a few times. Perhaps a bit silly doing it in a residential area, but a car like an Aventador shouldn't burst into flames just because of some revs. Of course, we don't know what they've been up to before the video was rolling, but on the evidence of the video alone I think you are harsh labelling them all as pricks.

They may well fit the stereotype of driving like idiots in hired supercars at a wedding, but there is no way of knowing that from the short video.

Because prior to finally leaving London after 20 years I had to put with the spectacle of these uninsured peeenarses driving like w ankers week after week with no action taken by the police on the basis of "community relations".

There's an indian restaurant opposite our office. Every now and again during the day they block the entire road with various hire cars (Ferrari's, Lambo's, Aston's), rev the bks off said hire cars, spend an hour parking up, disappear inside for literally 10 - 15 minutes then take another hour removing all the cars.....revving the nuts off them in the process.

Its a strange ritual to say the least.

Back to this one though, doesn't look like the guy did anything untoward, why the hell would you not give an Aventador a few revs whilst stationary in a residential street(!!)

Shouldn't bloody catch fire in the process though!

I take it where you live you don't have to put up with this, week in, week out? Because if you do and you are not a person that takes part in said celebrations it becomes very tiring, very quickly.

Completely unnecessary. And the sooner the absolute pricks who behave like this with hired supercars at weddings stop, the better life will be for everyone around them.

I used to work in the automotive industry and our company often rented cars that they would take to pieces -as in, entirely dismantle, in order to investigate some manufacturing process or another. They would then rebuild the car and send back to the hire company a month later with 2 extra miles on the clock!
I didn't know that was done in reality. Sounds like a myth arising from;
Iirc Ford did that with the original Mini (60's?) and couldn't work out how British Leyland/Austin made any money. Turned out they didn't!

So you're now just categorising a load of people, based on what exactly? The fact they are driving a supercar in a built up area? Seems you have a chip on your shoulder.

On the contrary. I categorise them because they drive the cars with no mechanical sympathy, no insurance, and no thought for the safety of others.

I have no chip at all I can assure you. I just don't like inconsiderate yobbos.
