I think I paid about £130 for front toe, camber and caster; and rear toe and camber.

These days I do it myself with bits of string. smile
You can do camber and castor with string?

Colour me impressed.

Camber is easy - A horizontal bar across the top of the car with plumb-lines dangling from it, then measure the distance to the rim at the top and bottom.

Caster is harder but fortunately doesn't seem to go out of alignment very much. You can work it out using plumb-linesat full lock if you know enough about the car and can be bothered. As a general rule, I can't. smile

can anyone recommend a good place in south yorkshire to get this done?
Just car clinic, yes I am serious.

£49 inc vat, one price regardless of 1 adjustment or 12 like they found on the 911 hehe
Didn't know Just Car had Hunter equipment. I got mine done at Station Garage at Castleford. Very thorough and a reasonable £78 all in.

There's everything cool about having a car that handles. wink and no, not by a strange chap, by an expert. It took about ten hours to go through the suspension and get everything right. I've spent thousands on components, this was the best value by far. smile

This ^

Many cars have few adjustable components. Some cars are fully adjustable.

And of course - as you as you tighten or loosen one bolt - it affects all the others.
If you want the exact readings - it takes time to get everything bang on.

For most folks on PH - the £49 option is all that the car needs.
If your car is "proper" - you will likely find spending the extra worth it.

He's right. My Alfa 75 felt far better on the way back than on the way there even though there wasn't much wrong (we just wound on some more castor and a smidge of toe in).

On normal cars there's not so much to fiddle with (or that's actually adjustable without bending the floor pan) but if you've got something that's got fully adjustable double wishbone all round then it's going to take time and money to get it perfect.

Yup, wouldn't spend more than fifty quid on the E39 but it was cheap in relative terms for the TVR and the improvement over the initial Hunter setup was unbelievable.

On the right car it's one of the cheapest performance upgrades going smile

Had my mx5 mk3 done there a few weeks ago, coincided with a trip to London. After it was lowered on eibachs it went on the rig for a fast road setup and it took about 20 mins. They didn't put a load in the car though and it didn't have a full tank. Still, it handles and looks much better.

A few years ago Hunter type machines were rare. Now commonplace. Probably all the 20" alloy diesel repmobiles needing attention.

Including a road test after adjustments then back on the ramp to recheck all the settings ?

But, you're paying for more than a lump of equipment.

I bought an old Lexus LS400 with 99000m on it last month. It had a geo issue with modest potholes/ruts/etc at anything other than low-speed and dead-straight. So I found my local Hunter-equipped place and took it in. I got the initial measurements on the Hunter print-out - it looked very professional. But they were unable to adjust more than 1 or 2 settings, and agreed to bring it back when they had more time (and any necessary parts from Lexus).

So they gave me the car back and I drove it 10 yards before a HUGE left-wards pull became apparent. This was new and far worse. How they even got the car turned around without noticing is beyong me. So I turned around and went back and got them to undo the changes. Drove it home and it was still worse than before they started.

So I made the longer trip to WiM/Chesham, and the difference in competence was huge. Made all of the important adjustments; only the caster was unable to be made quite perfect. The car now drives properly. Well worth the extra cost.
