RE: Audi TT Ultra and Sport: Driven

The whole thread is redundant as Audi aren't suddenly going to dial in oversteer! I guess the point I was making was that the thread was very predictable with people moaning about a mainstream car. There are still plenty of new and used cars available with lots of character that will be classics in years to come.anonymous said:

I agree and for the admitted extremely small minority like us the market is changing dramatically, I looked at nearly new M4`s today on the AUC site and there were 61 available to buy but every one was DCT yet BMW do offer it with a Manual but nobody wants one anymore. Ferrari going Turbo now and only offer a two pedal car, Porsche don't offer arguably their most focused drivers car the GT3 with a manual anymore...the future doesn't look that bright to me...or maybe I just live in the dark ages.
Interior looks no better than the Kia Venga that a colleague has just purchased or a Ford/Vauxhall etc. In fact I'm tempted to say it looks cheaper than some "lesser" cars.
I don't get where all this "ooh its a premium product" stuff comes from. The amount of warranty work the local dealer now has to do is staggering.

I can't say I understand the hype about Audi interiors, to be honest. I don't find the interiors of 'premium' cars to be much nicer than cheaper cars. In fact, the half-arsed attempt to look high quality grates with me - see,e.g., the really tacky 'wooden' elements in BMWs. I prefer a simple interior that is made of OK materials and doesn't pretend to be something that it isn't - the Mazda interiors are pretty much spot on to me (apart from the iPad thing) and I prefer the 987/997 Porsche interiors to the current gen.

The wooden elements, as you call them, are not pretending to be anything in my BMW at least. The reason I say that is because it's real wood. It's like me saying I wish you would stop pretending you were human. My dad's wife had a mazda 6, the interior was ok at best. My old Mans new M6 or her new Audi S5 are much nicer places to be.

I doubt it is real wood in anyway that you and I would normally use that term. It's probably a veneer or a resin/wood composite. Either way, it looks like st!My dad's wife had a mazda 6, the interior was ok at best. My old Mans new M6 or her new Audi S5 are much nicer places to be.

It's proper wood; I've not seen in on any other BMW other than the E65 7 series. It looks and feels like wood, and when my friend caught something on the side of the door and chipped it slightly, you can quite clearly tell it isn't fake plastic tat.
Wood: noun; the hard fibrous material that forms the main substance of the trunk or branches of a tree or shrub
Nope, it's definitely wood.

Have you seen the wood in my car? No, thought not.

Fair enough. Sorry. I was talking about the recent stuff. It's proper wood; I've not seen in on any other BMW other than the E65 7 series. It is, but if you want a manual, nothing stopping you ordering a new one
Tempting. Very tempting. A manual M235i with basic sat nav, paint and a couple of bits is £32k after discount which seems a bargain (for a new car anyway).Edited by nickfrog on Wednesday 24th September 19:19
