Also you've undermined your whole argument by saying it's stupid to play at home but fine to play at an airport! Like location matters?!
From a chance of winning point of view, its equally dumb. I'm saying stuck in an airport lounge and having a look around an Aventador sitting there in front of you then I can see why people throwing a few quid in and playing to pass some time. It just seems crap and uninteresting to do from home.

OP, are you keeping the car?

Actually I have a question. One has been answered already but leads on the a third.

You say you can spec your own car. Is there a limit? i know last time i speced an F type coup I couldn't help ticking all the boxes. There surely must be a limit but is it fair? what I mean is you dont have to get the smallest wheels and a flat colour and no parking sensors.

oh and you say you can take cash instead full amount of fully specked car or less.

Cheers

FANTASTIC! I buy a ticket or two for each competition. Usually win the 15% rebate every time as I always get pretty close. I was watching the YouTube video earlier and thinking how great it was that someone who's just had to give up his P&J has won himself a new one! CONGRATULATIONS!! biggrin

The info on the website suggests that you get 80% of the ex-VAT list price if you choose the cash. I'm guessing the prize is the basic spec car and you pay for anything over and above that. You can add an extra £1 to your entry to win £10,000 cash on top of the car which could be used for extra spec, or you could possibly have a slightly used higher spec car instead of a basic spec new one. It seems pretty flexible from what the other PHer who won said in his thread about it.

I'm not that bothered about football either. Watch some of the judging videos - they usually estimate the ball position from the players' eye lines. At the end of the day you're just trying to guess where the judges think the ball is, not the actual ball position, so there's an element of subjectivity about it however good you are. We all take our chances and a few of us get lucky!

Thats what i do line up the eyes. Either im boss eyed or the judges are.

I've spent hundreds on that site. I shudder to think. I don't gamble but that site gets me every time. The OP is going to cost me a lot of cash

They were indeed very flexible and very friendly about the whole thing (and since!)

I chose an ex demo as we just didn't have the cash to add lots of options. The car needed to be VAT qualifying though.

I'm sure they'd do the same this time round but can't say 100% as it's their business!!!

Overall I came out the other side of Porsche ownership with more cash in my pocket than if I'd taken the cash option and with 18 months and 12k of miles too. Insurance is now covered too by BOTB for the first year but that was only £600 a year with Manning.

What would cause a car to be VAT qualifying or not? Would an approved used car at a main dealer be VAT qualifying? Would a much older car at an independent specialist be VAT qualifying? I know BOTB offer a Ferrari 308 and 355 (up to £50,000 in value) as prizes. Do you just have to get them from a VAT registered business or can some cars be VAT qualifying and others not within the same dealership?

Lucky, lucky bd!!! biggrinthumbup

When they first launched BOTB I used to enter every time I flew - that was a fair few times back then.

Enjoy it - there is nothing quite like the sound of a Masser on full tilt! cloud9

OP and winner here..
Thanks for all the congrats guys.
I'm still buzzing from yesterday and have a bit of a sore head ;-)
Ok this is what happened,
Last month I had an e-mail offering a free go (worth £5) and i got quite close.
So being a bit down after my poor Alfa GTV suffered from the dreaded grot and failing the MOT I had to sell it and therefore decided to "treat" myself to a few goes on the comp that i won.
I did 5 goes for under £40 trying for the Mazzer, Alfa 4c & Jag F-Type V6S.
And thats it, I don't spend hundreds of pounds gambling each month (have family to look after) It was just a bit of fun with a chance to win one of my dream cars.
You have to try and guess where the panel of judges think the ball is (not where the actual ball is)
The car shown and presented is a dealer demo, today I'm now waiting for a call to either spec my own car (colour etc) or I take a cash prize instead.
Thanks again
Darren
What a great choice to have to make. Out of interest, do you have a set budget or can you get any GranTourismo?

A 4-seater MC Stradale would be my choice smile But if on a budget and it has to be a GranTourismo, I'm sure you could get a stonking deal by picking up an ex-demo or dealer registered car, there always seem to be plenty around.

Pics when you have it and sign up to sportsmaserati.com (unless you take the cash smile)

Just look at their eyes and make a rough guess. I have no interest in football but it didn't stop me winning smile

You get a base spec car for your winnings. You have to pay for any options, that's why I took Ex-Demo (It still has to be VAT qualifying)

Dealer new stock, ex-demo, loan cars and ex fleet could all qualify.

Intersting, thanks.

So in this case, lets say a GT is £80k base. Do you have the option of getting an ex-demo, speccy one, for the same £80k? So long as its VAT qualy?

Sounds like a nice idea to me smile

Anyway...come on OP, tell us what you've decided smile
