Congrats fella!!
You will love the GranTurismo, its a fantastic car. I drove one in convoy with a Gallardo LP560 spider, DBS Ultimate and Ferrari FF and everyone agreed the Maser was the best looking and best sounding car.
Get used to getting in, flicking climate on and always putting Sport mode on!

like the way people are surprised that lotteries are designed to make money... also like the way someone suggested putting the same money on the national lottery, like that's in some way different to this! Anyway, it's a tax on the stupid right up till you win a fking maserati eh?
How is the lottery any different? Its a game of chance. The lottery gives you a significantly better chance of a return on it. They're both games of chance, but the odds on one are ridiculous. The fact that one person making a poor choice, still ends up winning a maserati doesn't alter the fact its an idiot tax business model. I don't have any problem with it, like I say its a nice business model. Just purely from a user point of view I can't understand why anyone would possibly sit at home on their PC and play it. Throwing a fiver in while you're stuck in an airport lounge and looking at the Lambo or whatever physically in front of you is a different ballgame altogether though.

OP - Absolutely fantastic!! I play every couple months (normally cheap cars for £5-6) and I think its a great little competition. Personally I think its a bit dumb if you are spending £20 a month trying to win a Macca, but every so often its a bit of fun.
What do you plan to do with it? Drive it like a girl for a year and then cash it in to spend the money elsewhere? Or drive it like you stole it and run it into the ground? You speccing up a new model, or is the blue one in the picture your actual motor?
Get some decent pics up if it is.
Enjoy it...
Congrats, I'll echo the sentiment that these things usually look to be too good to be true, so it's cool to know that people do win.
Not familiar with BOTB but looking on their page it's like a spot the football competition? I assume the ball has been edited out of a picture, which I'll also assume has been photographed by their staff rather than a publicly available snapshot. I'm not a photography expert, but wouldn't this edit have to be flawless to get by all the graphic designers and Photoshop aficionados out there?

You son of a bh.
I have mixed feelings about this - half of me is really happy for you, the other half is filled with jealousy.
But, being a grown up (sort off), I'll try to ignore the jealousy bit and wish you all the best. Although I do expect a long and explicit write up with lots and lots of pictures in the "readers rides" section within the next couple of weeks.
Such a great looking and great sounding car.
Hope you enjoy the great feeling you no doubt have for as long as possible.

Do they even need to edit the ball out?Not familiar with BOTB but looking on their page it's like a spot the football competition? Set a camera up on a tripod looking towards the goal, take a few pictures with no players about to form a background. Then without moving the camera snap shots of action. Then all you need to do is layer the action images over the top deleting the ball and surrounding area - this will then reveal the background behind which never had a ball in the first place.
People do similar with car shots where they make their bonnet look translucent. Theyve merely taken two photos from the exact same position (one with the bonnet up and one down). You can then merge the two together and choose which bits you want to keep from each image,

Hang on, can we just be happy for the OP and celebrate his win. We've all got the jist that you think its a stupid competition and that anybody entering is obviously stupid - so why dont you leave it there....
This.FFS, someone has just won a dream car and all some people can do is pick holes in what might have been a better gambling opportunity.
Maybe the OP doesn't do the lottery as he doesn't agree with the causes the money goes to.

It might be possible to work it out, but it tells you on their site how it's judged, they get three "professional sporting experts" who chose themselves where they think the centre of the ball is, so you're not trying to guess where the actual ball is (if there ever was one in the shot), you're just trying to guess the same as where a panel of three people also think the ball is.andrew said:

That won't be his car, they use a dealer demo for the surprise (they can't keep every car in stock). He gets to spec his own car but that does mean he will have to wait.
can i ask if you're connected with botb ?Its a thread about BOTB... nobody would have cared if you were up front about working there.
