I like it. Will be interesting to see residual values in 3 years or so as a new one is good value but a little rich for me.

£29k does look quite decent value. Any news on what the V8 will cost?

People didn't buy the Monaro/Vauxhall VXR and aren't buying the Camaro. I doubt they will buy the Mustang either.

In USA these cars are cheap compared with the Germans. In UK they're the same price as the Germans.

And the cars are BIG for the amount of space in them. I don't think it will get much market share.

310bhp from a 2.3 4cyl turbo.....so 10 MORE than you got from the 4.6 V8 in the old Mustang GT. That's fairly incredible (or just highlights how crap the old Modular V8 was)
Even the 3.7 V6 in the current model has 305 bhp.

Totally. A big, good looking, well proportioned coupe, handles well, adequate power, cheapish to run and buy. And whats more its a Mustang! I'd have one of these over a 420d any day.

Also, I bet there will be many options to chip it to get a bit more top end. Official Motune Ecoboost Mustang?

Could see it being a sensible daily to replace the Focus in a few years.
Agree, could be a great option for a Daily. - Esp if it is backed by Ford. I'll take mine in Black.

Brilliant.
Outpowers the GT86, a Golf R looks boring in comparison and it's cheap enough to lure customers from an entry level 4 series...

the VXR8 was only available as a V8 limiting the market somewhat. It was also an ugly saloon, (the monaro was good looking though), and didn't come with a name & history like the mustang.

the Camero is only V8 and LHD.

also, could you let me know the german RWD coupe with 310BHP i can buy for under £30k please.

Given it has 15% greater engine capacity and is turbocharged, it'd be a bit odd if it didn't. hehe

It does weigh and cost about 30% more, though.

I'm not a fan. The specs and price are impressive but it's not what a Mustang should be. Economical, small engined and refined are three motoring terms that should never ever be considered when buying a Mustang.
The crux of it is, Ford want less people who admire them from a distance and more people who'll actually buy them.

They've been selling loud, thirsty, big engined Mustang's since the dawn of time and have sold about 3 in Europe ever since, this one they hope will sell.

Indeed. A cleaner, greener RHD Mustang is very laudable, but people (usually people from Essex with slightly dodgy moustaches, admittedly) buy muscle cars because they offer a suitably extrovert dollop of Americana.

True, the Mustang could overcome this and sell to people who don't go line dancing and don't have Dolly Parton in the their CD collection, but only if it was much better than its European and Japanese competitors, I think.

I honestly hope to be proved wrong and I applaud Ford for doing it - we need more leftfield choices in the UK market - but a domesticated muscle car seems like an odd proposition.

It's a big car, same size as a BMW E63.

Good looks, great interior, good mpg, IRS, RHD, Mustang? Hard to compute. Great stuff.

Really like the idea of these, especially if there is a Mountune upgrade at a reasonable price - say a 20-25 bhp increase for around a £1000?.

Comfy, plenty space, looks good, nice interior, reasonable VED (assumed), and a bit different to the usual German offerings. Should hopefully sell well.

Just looked up, its 2 inches wider than a current 5 Series which makes it a big car on British roads

yikes Are you sure you aren't comparing Mustang with mirrors to 5-series without?

Both without mirrors! 75.4 inches Mustang, 73.2 inches 5 Series. The with mirrors Mustang figure (according to Ford US is over 81 inches...)

A 4-pot Mustang eh? Well, I've got nothing against its left-hand bank of cylinders. The trouble is, nor has it...

These will sell like hotcakes, I reckon. The Mustang name is evocative, even if the heritage is only hazily understood in the UK, and the styling has been "globalised" just enough so that it won't look out of place at a UK Ford Dealer but is still recognisably a Mustang. The choice of V8 and Ecoboost is smart as it means that they have covered both the old school petrolheads and those who just want a stylish coupe to impress the neighbours.

Being picky, I can't help but feel that the wheelbase is a fraction short relative to the front and rear overhangs, but it's a good effort. I've no doubt Ford took it's development very seriously given the brand's heritage and the plans to roll it out globally.
