This afternoon I saw someone using a neighbours drive to turn round, this wasn't someone using the dropped kerb for a bit extra room but driving completely onto the drive as if to park and then reversing off and driving away.

My reaction is bloody cheeky bd especially as the cul-de-sac has a turning area 20 yards up the road.
OK, poor judgement using the drive rather than the cul-de-sac... But there is nothing wrong with using a driveway to do a 3 point turn. Courtesy says you shouldn't go beyond the footpath/gate/fence/nature strip but if you have to, you have to. Its better than holding up both lanes of traffic in an Austin Powers-esque 82 point turn.

If someone were to use my drive to turn around, firstly they'd have a hard time of it as my BMW will be in the way but lets say it's not for arguments sake, I'd be fine. Especially as my house is a few hundred metres away from a one way system that often gets congested.

Im struggling to see the issue here ... no damage was done, no sausages hammered, no stairs dominated, no pets beasted, no crisps pissed in, etc. - people need to get a grip of themselves

if they hadnt been seen by a curtain twitcher it would never have been known - its a non issue

Jesus, how do you people get through the days?

Don't turn on the TV or read a newspaper for the love of god! Your bubble might burst and then all the bad men would get you!

Blood hell, have a word with yourselves!!

Who cares if your open drive aids someone in turning their car ? !
The sort of tt who needs to use the extra space of someone's private drive is the sort of person who's likely to accidentally clip your wall and fk off afterwards. I speak from experience.
yes

My previous house was near the end of a cul-de-sac, and the only house with a drive. I lost count of the times my brick gate post was knocked over. Only one was caught, a delivery driver, thanks to an alert neighbour.

I feel uncomfortable even using the drop-kerb TBH
Why? It belongs to the council same as the road does.
The council made me pay for mine, as well as four yards of pavement behind it. It may technically belong to the council but I have two grand invested in it!

'no turning' signs at the end of driveways always make me want to turn in them even though I don't need to.

Surprised at some views on here, but using others peoples private property really should not be on.

Heck I get peeved when some of takeaway c*nts that come to our house (on the odd occasion we do have takeaway) find it "okay" to park on our drive! Our drive is not for you to use (or at least ask us first!).

Nope, you implicitly give permission for delivery agents to use your drive to access your front door when you order something. Whether they choose to walk, ride, drive or whatever is not up to you, unless you advise them before making the order, or install a locked barrier.

There is a busy main road near me with huge houses with ample driveways each side. It's extremely annoying when delivery drivers block the road instead of using the driveways, especially supermarket ones.

I'd be bothered if I thought there was a risk of them damaging my property - hitting one of the cars, clipping the gate, etc.

Depends on if it does any damage to the drive, used to get HGV's doing turns on my old drive, was old crazy paving so didn't matter but if I had a new drive then I'd be pissed off.

Came home recently, pulled into my drive and someone else was using it so I just held down my horn to see if anyone came out and when they didn't blocked them in, threatened to call the police before I realized they weren't doing anything nefarious.

Actually, for some reason quite a few people use the dropped kerb outside my house and the ground is pitted from front wheels being turned while stationary. Over time loose stones grind more loose stones. Fortunately, it is public land so I guess the council will replace it free of charge?

I can see how that situation would warrant a good whinge.
I would probably install a gate post with no gate but something that sticks out enough to damage careless vehicles protect your brickwork.
