Love the fact he can get as much enjoyment driving low powered basic cars as he can out of the most exotic of supercars.
The mark of a true car guy. Pretensions about having to show off aren't there. It's not fake or a public image. Feels honest.
Indeed. I loved the Fiat 500 film and how he mentioned that you're driving it flat out pretty much all the time. To me this is far more enjoyable (when you're in fun driving mode) than having something so vastly capable that you can't realistically drive it at more than 40% on public roads.

Best car channel on YouTube. The man knows his stuff and I learn something about the particular car I didn't know every time!

Very humble and modest man.
I really enjoy each instalment.

I've always been a fan of Metcalfe from his Evo days, but think his transition to Youtube has been particularly successful - I think he has some of the best automotive content on there.
He manages to strike a happy medium between SaabKyle level of inane detail, and Chris Harris sideways everywhere irrelevance. I want to know how a car feels if you drive enthusiastically, but I also want to know about the little quirks as well.

I like him, think he's good, but i'm sure in the 0ne 77 video he says Aston Martin stripped the engine, removed the pistons to put a 'special coating' on the liners to increase the capacity to 7.3...
My respect for him dropped a little after that.

I've not seen the video or know anything about the One77 but surely he just means they've fitted new liners and changed the pistons but maybe he phrased it badly. He comes across like he knows what he's on about, not some bloke blagging it.

Which is correct. The standard V12 has liners, the One 77 doesn't, the parent metal bore is coated and then the larger pistons run on that coating.

So not correct. As the quote i have put says 'on the liners'...
If he'd have said they remove the liners and coat the parent bores, that would make sense.

The Alfa at The Hairpin Company is showing as sold, so do you think Harry's got his cheque book out?

Hopefully it shows that his channel sells cars for dealers as it means he'll keep doing the videos and have access to more cars. Might prove to be the best way to fund production of the vendor picks up the tab?

I love his films. I met him recently and we chatted about a mutual love of Lotus. He's exactly the same in person as he is on camera, warm, friendly and intelligent.

I want him to be my Dad.
My son met him a few years back at the Wilton Super car event. My son at the time, 16 years old, built up the courage and politely introduced himself purely to say how much we both loved watching his content.

Harry was with his wife and a few friends, he was very friendly and chatty and genuinely interested in his feedback. Just seems like a top guy... Meeting Tiff Needle at the same event on the other hand was not so friendly and engaging!

Ahem, he says, exactly: "The engine, first of all, starts life as a normal 6 litre engine, it's the same, but they remove the liners and put a very special coating on the cylinders to open up the cc of it. It's now a 7.3 litre."

Go jack that respect level back up to where it was!

In addition to qualities mentioned I think the fact that he owns most of the cars he reports on makes a big difference to the richness of the reviews. Even an extended test drive cannot really give a reviewer a true feel for a car. Living with it, and paying for it!, provides a broader perspective.

In the newest video (the Defender SVX) I love how he can't say anything about the 'special event' for 'legal reasons' however the cab is strewn with 007 and Spectre promotional tat + the 007 number plate hehe

An outboard motor, 14 bottles of Champagne and 2 Brompton bicycles as luggage, you couldn't make it up!

Great new video, that outboard!

I presume he must have known it would fit already, hell of a risk just hoping!

Enjoyed that a lot. This is the sort of thing he does best. Would have thought though that getting the outboard motor into the front of a Testarossa without damage was a nightmare.
