"LHD is useless in the UK"... (pic text)
hopefully some kind of cryptic joke
because what is so useless about LHD in UK.....simply put if you cant drive one on a UK road you aren't much of a driver....add to that you aren't much of a driver if you cant drive on the right with a right hand drive either....yea it takes practice but being a well rounded driver takes practice
exactly mate i live in sweden (am an english lad) i always buy RHD from england its no problem at all :-) and the cars are upto 75% cheaper as well :-)hopefully some kind of cryptic joke

Interesting stuff, also means that the new Mustang V8 with an IRS should be quite a machine, then there is the prospect of that then supercharged.
I drove the 5.0 and apart from the rear end hopping about mid corner I loved it, oh and leaving the airport and hoofing it, then trying to change gear with my left hand
I certainly hope so! The "new edge" Cobras with IRS (99-04) the rear end was a bit rubbish, axle tramp for days when you launched them hard. But from what I've read the new setup will be much better.I drove the 5.0 and apart from the rear end hopping about mid corner I loved it, oh and leaving the airport and hoofing it, then trying to change gear with my left hand
The Ford 5.0L 32v V8 is just a gob-smacking motor. Our sense of value over here is totally skewed by it - for right around $30,000 (which to date is 18,521 british pounds according to Google) you can get a "base" GT 5.0. 6 speed, 420 horsepower 7,000rpm V8, runs a low 13 to high 12 second quarter mile, gets almost 30mpg highway. I think an all-round better car than these iron block GT500's.
you are right though, the live-axle situations in corners is an "acquired taste"
of course as a former C900 SPG owner (65% of the weight over the front axle! 3-second turbo lag!) I'm familiar with acquired tastes.

as per modified 4.6L 3v cars (Like the Roush Stage 3 or 427R) vs these factory GT500's - the GT500 engine is HEAVY. Bolting a blower to the 4.6L 3v motor can make close to the same power, but not quite as much. If the car is seeing track use it might be a plus. The Shelbys make nice cruisers (since they're usually fully spec'd) and good drag cars.
My $0.02 from the other side of the Atlantic.
What about stroking the 3v motor? My brother went down that route - parts off the shelf from Ford Racing and now has a 24v 5.0ltr Saleen Supercharged car, which made 510rwhp on a Dyno Dynamics. The car is very driveable and handles very well on smooth tracks, despite the LRA. On a bumpy track like the Ring it was a bit of a handful, but boy, did we attract all the attention My $0.02 from the other side of the Atlantic.
It has Stoptech brakes, nice suspension, ceramic clutch, short shifter etc...

Just slightly off topic...
The gaffer's brother not long ago took delivery of his Eleanor replica with an approx 600bhp 429 crate motor installed. Brought it in to let us have a look and took us for a ride round the block.
According to my boss he paid less than $AU100,000 for it although the order to delivery period was around 18 months.
Check out www.classicspeedinc.com in Manilla.
Sounded as good as it looked too with the side exit pipes, and around 8 - 10 mpg round the houses!!
And of the three cars I've seen come out of Manila, all had hand stamped VIN's and RHD, I would not be touching them with a bargepole. One was quite well put together, the other was not, the third I never went to see.The gaffer's brother not long ago took delivery of his Eleanor replica with an approx 600bhp 429 crate motor installed.
