Well maybe not for all, but for me at least half the fun is having an engine that makes me smile. I dont need 300hp to do this, just something that revs cleanly and doesn't fall off a cliff at 6000 rpm. Agreed there are comprises but there are also £1500 MX5's and MR2's for sale.
Mx5's red line at 6k revs ....

Do you want to argue that an Mx5 isn't a sports car and a 330d is? Or shall we get back to a diesel saloon being a better drivers car than a Boxster?

I think everything that can be said in this thread has been. If numbers are your thing there is no point in anyone trying to convince you otherwise. I can't think of anything more dull than a heavy barge with a monster engine, but each to their own.

God know why people are discussing petrol sports cars in a diesel sports car thread?

Maybe because most cars still tend to also have petrol versions ?

But the comments have no relevance to the OP question. Its strictly a diesel thread - if there is a sporty diesel or not, we all know there are many many many petrol sports cars so point out hey you know what there is a petrol option.... Yes thanks for that ...
