Rather than risk spamming this thread, I have asked the legality question directly in SP&L.

There is deffo no option in the AUDI MMI on my 2014 car to turn them off.

I do think it spoils the look of the car, and some people think you have turned them on, on purpose - like front fog lights when there is no fog..
That's what I used to think anyway.

No. Because you didn't answer the question in the first reply asking what area, and nobody knows of an auto electrician that covers the entire United Kingdom!

Treat these the same as HID headlights.

Factory - Yes
Aftermarket - No

When a car has them, because they are supposed to have them then thats fine, but don't add them because you think they look cool.

DRL do not aid your vision they are designed to 'catch the eye' of other motorists in the hope that you are spotted where otherwise someone might look right through approaching a junction (this is called something blindness...?)

if it stops someone pulling out on me then happy days. if someone thinks I'm a chav because i haven't disabled a factory fitted safety feature then so be it smile

Ah the bain of modern motoring.......

How often does a pair of blazing white LED clusters fly up behind you aggresively pushes you out the way then goes by and it's a Romford white A4 1.9Tdi at WOT with a sales rep at the wheel who thinks he's Jack the Lad and you'd better get out his way because his mums cooking his fish fingers and Findus crispy pancakes before he goes out to meet Chardonnay and Chantelle at a pretentious bar in his shiny pointy shoes and skinny leatherette tie.

I like both types of drl...

Well if they have removed the options and your hell bent on having them deactivated you can easily do it using vag com aswell

I think we're going to see loads of people driving along in the dark/dusk/fog/mist/rain with only their DRL on. No rear lights and when they should be using dipped beam.

How can a bar be precocious?

Ha ha, fair point, pretentious was intended but didn't come out! Now edited, cheers!

I fitted them purely because it is a learner car and several pupils manage to switch off the lights when indicating and it's not immediately noticeable with bright street lighting. Hence we continued driving in town in the dark with no lights until I noticed. At least we now still have some form of position lights if this happens.

Another positive effect I have noticed is that less other drivers pull out of side roads in front of us.

Absolutely bang on the money with the above.

I have yet to see a car with aftermarkets on and thought that it looked good.

Why anyone would want to fit such tat to their car is beyond me but hey, live and let live I suppose.

I thought precocious worked, implying it was a bar for those who feel themselves precocious, although really they're probably not.. or something like that.
If a bar can be pretentious, it can be precocious?

I'm yet to see a car with after market ones that look good, they all just seem to look out of place and scream "I've just been to Halfords"
