I'm considering selling Scoob - my old pick up - if so 'will need a replacement...

He does forty to the gallon, cruises all day at sixty five to seventy and is as comfortable as an '80s hatchback! I've barely used the 4x4 capability so that's not really an issue. Bigger trucks are out as my better half will be using it for work most days and parking there is limited (or I'd be looking for another U.S. truck!). Budget is up to about £3000 (unless someone has a Syclone that desperately needs a good home!). I don't mind a diesel, if I have to, but I do enjoy driving. Simple as possible - the fewer airbags, electric windows, a.b.s. etc. the better. It's not for business use; mainly a small car but with the ability to carry the occasional big bits of hot rod or trees for the logburner. Age isn't really an issue as long as it's pretty rust free and up together.
Hot favourite so far is a Proton Jumbuck, I've heard they drive a lot better than you might expect (due to the input from Lotus) any obvious pitfalls?
Other than Caddy/Skoda, Jumbuck, and a rather nice Fiorino and Peugeot 504 on Ebay the choice for decently priced car based trucks seems somewhat limited.
Am I missing any obvious choices?
Thanks for any suggestions, sensible or otherwise...

The subaru seems to meet all your requirements - why are you looking to sell?

Geekman - mechanically he's fine but rust is going to become an issue in the not too distant future. I have far too many projects to start on this one... I may end up just getting some work done to keep him solid for another year but could do without the hassle at the moment (seven vehicles and a cottage renovation!).

I know somebody who has just restored one of those Subaru's. Maybe check Facebook and see what's about as he seemed to be be doing pretty well with his.
