A 20% increase?!

What does this "service" involve? Hoping for your sake the oil is fully synthetic, not snake..

They're claiming to increase both performance (what parameters?) and fuel economy by 20%?

How much are they charging for this "service"?

1 series performance edition, it was a special edition one they used on the 2012 olympics.

Its described as a quality enhancement which will help increase MPG by 20% and provide a smoother delivery of power.

Not really much to go on here. As it currently sounds like... well a service, and one that is sold with 'up to' 20% increase in economy. I think I'd be finding out precisely what was going to happen is a good idea.

edit: 'Quality Enhancement' sounds very much like marketing speak for technical bulletin/fixing a fk up.

Well the only way you're going to get anywhere near a 20% improvement in mpg is with a remap - have you asked your insurance company what effect this will have?

The price of said magic beans is £99, i am curious as well, we will see. Im not too concerned about the price, just curious as to what they can do without changing the ECU settings.

Stick some random "treatment" into the oil or fuel and re-calibrate the OBC to show better MPG than it's actually getting would be my guess.

I dont think they seem that corrupt, they do a rolling road test before and after to show the difference. Im not mechanically minded enough to know fully, Could ti be something as simple as slightly larger hoses, give it a good clean out, etc???

Will it be "modified" if its been done by the main dealer? Kind of like speccing upgraded wheels....

The rolling road part makes me think it is a remap TBH.

It'll be a calibration/software update if it's a main dealer. No insurance implications because it's essentially fixing a software bug. I wouldn't expect any more performance, or economy tbh.

edit. bolded the important bit.

Dyno runs before and after make it interesting..

I initially thought this sounded just like the advertising on additives or "magic" services which promise huge performance and efficiency gains, with the small print being "only where the car was completely fked to start with".
