They've ruined it. The old car looks so smart. New car has been sat in front of a fire for a while and melted. The rear end is horrible.
I'm sure the engine will be amazing but I wont be getting excited anymore when I pass a new one on the road.
RS4 looks so much better. Audi just need to put a turbo charged engine in it now to compete. Won't be long though I'm sure.
M3 Touring with Xdrive. Would have to be a sales success? Or would that be an M4 touring???

But that would suggest in terms of numbers that it is inferior to the old 63 model.

It'd be better if they dropped the number altogether and just called it the Mercedes-AMG C-Class, and the Mercedes-AMG C-Class 'S'.

Or the Mercedes C-AMG and C-AMG S
But that'd cause confusion with the "AMG-line" range - i.e. normal c-class with AMG styling cues.

I don't have a problem with it being called a 63 - to me at least, the name suggests that they're replacing a recent (very highly-regarded) car. Which is exactly what they are doing.

Impressive figures from 1750 rpm, but look dull, prefer the current c63 still but will probably warm very quickly when seen in the flesh

What's with the S Version? Jumping on a band wagon? Will see this with the other classes too then?

Im sure it will be an epic machine to drive and that the leasing companies will be chcuking them out the door in big numbers... But why cant they call it the c40 instead of confusing everyone with the 63 badge.
I think the C43 would be sufficient.

Sort of agree on the inferior thing. But the 63 badge has history and was always related to engine size. I could sort of accept the 5.5 V8 TT as 63 but I think the 4.0 should be badged appropriately.

But removing it all together and calling it C-AMG is a fine idea.

They didn't have a problem with it before when they went C43 -> C32

I have to agree with many on here that the older version looks way better. Yes, the engine will be a belter but.....

I'm not sure about many of the MB designs lately, has Chris Bangle's brother got a job there?

Mine's an estate, that colour will do, thank you very glad.

476 BHP and costs the same to tax as my Golf. And if it actually does anything like 34 MPG, it will use less fuel too! In a sense, I would be economising.
Man maths at it's finest!

Just another pointless marketing exercise. Remember C63 also had the "Performance Pack" that did almost the same thing but you couldn’t market that with an extra badge so most of the people needing the "top of the range" model to compensate for something didn’t tick that box. tongue out
Not so with the "S"...

Suspension that makes an RS3's ride feel like fluffy marshmellow (in dynamic) thumbup
Great sounding N/A V8 thats dead below 4k allowing Micra's to leave you at the lights unless you want to use launch control every timethumbup
14mpg if you play with the loud pedal ... thumbup

fixed wink
You forgot numb steering!
its decent enough for the type of car it is, vastly better than audi's of old, as good as any of my scoobies, you do need to be the hulk to turn the wheel at 100mph+ in dynamic mode thou biggrin

its no 911 / exige but its not meant to be
I own one ... the ride and steering are absolutely fine with both set in "comfort" - everything else is set to "dynamic"

If a "Micra outdrags me from the lights" it's because I've got my mum n dad in the back ....
I think saying its gutless below 4k is unfair, although it's certainly an engine you need to rev to get the power out
However, you're still talking 250lb/ft and 190bhp ish at 2500rpm, so still not a slouch
It's a marmite car though, and if you're looking for something 'special' for the weekends, then this isn't it. As a day to day car, it's perfect and that's always been the RS4's purpose

I personally think the C class is a fine looking car, and they have gone for the small S Class look.

In terms of the display, ok not perfect, but it's a beautiful cabin, it really is. And it's better value than anything from BMW and Audi....

Dear God that looks poor. Perhaps they should consider 'L' 'GL' and 'GLX' as well biggrin

But at least Bangle's designs were distinctive (and IMO look much better now than when launched). You could stick a Korean badge on most of the new Mercs and nobody would bat an eyelid.

I'm a bit gutted I don't like it because I loved the old one (I'm talking looks here).

Need to see it in the flesh, don't think the pics in this article do it justice. "AMG" spec diesels make this look too similar, but that is also the case with numerous German fast saloon/ estate cars.

Looking forward to some reviews.

Looks good. However, compared to the last gen it looks a little soft.

I think the previous gen looks alot meaner and aggressive. I love it!
