Errrrrr...why have they glued an iPad to the top of the dash?

It is utterly hideous.

Anyone know what the 15kg variation is weight is for? with/without carbon brakes?

Engine: 3,982cc twin-turbo V8
Power (hp): 476@5,500rpm/510@5,500rpm
Weight: 1,715kg/1,730kg (EU, with 75 kg driver/luggage)
MPG: 34.5mpg (NEDC combined)
CO2: 192g/km
I know this is nothing new but the tested MPG and CO2 figures of modern cars are pretty much meaningless now. I'm sure there have been big improvements over the last few years but this car's emissions are similar to a MK2 2.0 Focus or MK5 1.8 Astra. 40% more weight, 4x the power, but equal emissions/MPG? Good to save on the VED I suppose...

I really like the looks of the saloon, and I like the interior, screen included.

Might look at a lease deal on one when the GolfR goes back biggrin

iPad?
It looks like something you'd get cheap out of an argos catalogue.

Does anyone know why both BMW and Mercedes have gone for the "stuck on" look with their screens in the latest generation cars? I don't mind it, personally, but clearly a lot of people don't like the way it looks. Is it an ergonomic thing, to bring the screen closer to the driver's line of sight?

As a previous c63 and currently m3 owner I like it.

Trying to recall reading about a new car on pistonheads where people didnt come on and slate it. Things move on and turbo technology is the current means of keeping horsepower with reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. I'm just glad they still choose to put a "petrol head" model in the line up.

It's all the rage now. "Pop-up toast" design.
I personally don't get it.

Im sure it will be an epic machine to drive and that the leasing companies will be chcuking them out the door in big numbers... But why cant they call it the c40 instead of confusing everyone with the 63 badge.

I guess the stick on display may be a weight/cost saving exercise. As somebody mentioned above, creating the dash surround for that display would use more materials. I actually like this look...

Merc have been using the '63' badge on quite a few of their models which aren't that capacity, like the E63/CLS63 (5.5L)

its decent enough for the type of car it is, vastly better than audi's of old, as good as any of my scoobies, you do need to be the hulk to turn the wheel at 100mph+ in dynamic mode thou biggrin

its no 911 / exige but its not meant to be

I think the C43 would be sufficient.

This excellent post sums up exactly what a huge joke the system and EU are when it comes to this. A bunch of dinosaurs trying to tell innovative minds how to build something and to their test specific rules.

Its all a massive smokescreen.

Confirmation that cars are becoming too powerful. 0-100mph in around 10 seconds is more than fast enough, yet this generation of cars is dipping to 8 or below.

Instant power on tap actually diminishes the driving experience, IMO, unless you want a super fast point to point car for covering large distances at pace, which I guess is the brief of this car.
In your opinion.

I own one ... the ride and steering are absolutely fine with both set in "comfort" - everything else is set to "dynamic"

If a "Micra outdrags me from the lights" it's because I've got my mum n dad in the back ....

the problem is the car is very inert and dull in comfort mode

and they are totally gutless in the low rev range, which for me makes them a very poor every day car

the RS6 has it bang on engine wise for a daily driver, effortless instant warp speed

I think the C43 would be sufficient.
But that would suggest in terms of numbers that it is inferior to the old 63 model.

It'd be better if they dropped the number altogether and just called it the Mercedes-AMG C-Class, and the Mercedes-AMG C-Class 'S'.

Or the Mercedes C-AMG and C-AMG S
