Edit: Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly... Anybody who turns off the traction control in a powerful RWD is an idiot in your eyes?
There is a time and a place for everything , there is also a level of ability needed
Erm, I'd agree with this statement. You haven't been saying anything of the sort for the last few posts though have you rolleyes
What are we discussing here on this thread ?
You said that a women I know is a "fk wit" because she thought the traction control was far too intrusive on her M5. You tell me!
Here you go , have a mirror now go and argue with yourself smile
You make absolutely no sense whatsoever...

Probably not, for the sake of community relations
I have noticed a trend in your attitude when referring to certain communities which you obviously have a dislike towards. It's not on however you wish to dress it up.

He has an opinion no doubt formed by first hand experience. an opinion I agree with after first hand dealings

Not seen the vid yet, and I am sure that over-enthusiastic driving is to blame but what I would say is that even low powered shopping trolleys have a habit of spinning around there.

The small roundabout for Asda car park/Asda fuel/Costco is not so bad (just stupidly small with usually a poor percentage of people bothering to indicate). It's the roundabout just up from this on the road inbetween Asda and the TC itself (ie if Carcraft is on your left heading in to Trafford Park it is the roundabout to take you left in to Asda/Costco). I see people spinning on this roundabout every Winter, more often than not Fiestas/similar unexotic machinery.

There is a problem with the camber/road surface on that roundabout, because it is not only if it is icy but if the road surface is just a bit damp.

It doesn't help that the standard of driving is so crap around there as it is!!

I think to get a 45% discount on a Jag you would need to also purchase it tax free and I did't think there were any RAF pilots left in Germany?
No RAF pilots in Germany.

Greggy50 said that he flies Cargo planes, that means he will be based at Brize Norton, flying either C17 or Hercules.

I've been based there for seven years, and I've never seen that car parked up on base. (I know he's not had it long)

I also do a lot of flying on both C17 and C130 and I've never seen him on an aircraft before.

Trade plates are used to move untaxed vehicles in connection with the motor trade only (example - to take a car that is in stock to a repairer). The plate number is registered on the MID by the holder so that it's associated with their trade insurance policy.

Any vehicle being used for any other purpose other than motor trade (tooling about the Trafford Centre is not such a purpose) needs to be taxed (not driven on trade plates) and even if it is covered by a trade policy, the registration needs to be submitted to the MID so it appears on the database and thus ANPR etc.

Source: I am a motor trader and hold a trade policy and trade plates and use vehicles in both of these ways.
Yes appears I was wrong.

It is strange though that with at least two cars I have purchased from main dealers before, the cars were not showing as insured on the database a few days before I completed the sale. I guess their insurance provider just didnt update the database that quickly.

Have absolutely no idea how the F the driver of the Jag managed to make such a mess of that.

Not quite sure how the Mercedes driver managed to completely stuff it, either.

I do wonder if incidents like these are the result of all the day to day driving aids and electronics being so good, that young guys who drive around in modern cars with little to no prior experience of driving a powerful car without the "safety net" of electronic aids suddenly find themselves way out of their depth when they deactivate everything to "show off". Even 10-15 years ago when these aids were more primitive, or, in many cases, yet to be developed at all, at least as you drove more powerful cars you'd have to learn pretty quickly to respect them.

I dread to think what'll happen in a few years time when most drivers will have spent most of their time on the road relying on lane assist, ESP, automatic braking/colllision avoidance, radar assisted cruise control, blind spot monitoring/warning, automatic high/dipped beam, etc.

All this technology is brilliant, but it shouldn't come at the expense of developing your ability to control the machine and learning to be aware of your surroundings.
Probably agree with you.

Firstly I'm no driving god.
However I owned a 280hp Nissan 200sx with no stability control other than the drivers foot for 10 years, numerous track days etc. Also had a lot of Advanced driving involvement so have a reasonable idea of how to drive.

Anyway I hired a TR6 for the day,and the owner took me out for a few miles to 'see how I drove it' before handing it over properly. Anyway he complemented me on knowing what I was doing, and said 90% of people didn't have a clue how to drive a RWD car.

p.s. the TR6 was absolutely wonderful, one of the finest driving days ever

few years ago I reviewed the E63 for the Independent newspaper - I was told in no uncertain terms that the car was uninsured if i turned off the ESP. I suspect the ESP was turned off on the C63

Main dealers have so much stock that will never need to see the road without trade plates (ie they only move them in connection with the trade. Test drives etc) that they probably don't need to put them on the MID.
