And I think it will sell well.
I've only seen about 3 Vauxhall Adams.

Has anyone driven a Corsa VXR? Is it just like a Corsa, only fast? Or is it actually a reasonable thing to drive?
I've driven the Nurburgring edition VXR

I thought it handled very well

Much better than a standard 1.2 which my Mum had

The traction was also extremely good with the diff ( which is obviously peculiar to the Nurburgring edition ( or whatever it's called now - Clubsport?))

I hope that I'd recognise a reasonable handling hot hatch having had a 309 GTI/Saxo VTS/Cooper S in the past

Its awefull, definately not going to be better than the Abarth, and as for the 0-60 that is shocking, it must weigh a couple of tons and have the longest gear ratios ever. I would take an Abarth or Twingo over this in a heartbeat.

150bhp and 8.5 secs, really? The new MINI Cooper, 1.5 litres, 3 cylinders manages the same sprint in 7.9 seconds, despite a 16bhp deficit and weighing around the same. Strange. Even my old N/A 1.6 Fiesta Metal with 134PS managed 0-62 in around the same time, and that was a fair bit heavier.

Be interesting to see what figures the road testers get - I never pay much attention to 'factory quoted' performance or weight figures - usually off one way or another

Does the Adam sell well in other countries? I think I've seen less than 10 on the road since they were launched.

Someone in my street has actually bought one of these (well, the base model one). He's had it about 3 months so far, and it's still there. Bizarre.

Well, it's not like it's gonna get nicked, is it?

If it does, they'll probably bring it back.

I just can't believe they took a Corsa, and managed to make it LESS stylish.

The performance is about the same as the Suzuki Swift Sport which most people rave about? However, the Swift does have a revvy little N/A engine, nice direct manual box, a good chassis and decent steering. I've never driven a Vauxhall with any of those things.

It looks like the sort of thing Jeremy Kyle would chase with a net.

oh noes a car manufacturer didn't make a white "look at me" euro blob, can't possibly have that can we.

It was a laugh I'll admit, but definitely not a car you'd want to live with every day, we were looking at them as a purchase from my wife (ended up with an MX5) and drove a normal one and one of the special editions (may be an SS, definitely had the rock hard Koni suspension). It just felt like a toy car, the plastics and quality of it was ridiculous. The salesman convinced us to go out in the Punto Abarth and that felt light years ahead in terms of being a car that you could drive fast and use daily.

Not driven a recent Corsa or indeed an Adam however.
There is no "SS" Corsa and none have Koni suspension, so no idea what you were driving.

Kind of off-topic, but if VX can afford to do this to an Adam, not exactly a market leader, why can't VW make the Up GT?

I think it was the Abarth/Fiat 500 that he mentioned that he didn't enjoy rather a particular model of Adam

Awful name, but it's not alone... Twingo and Up just as bad.

Good job Opel's Founder wasn't 'Dick' Opel.

Oh come on.

I've said it before but how the F*** did that name get past the board? Idiotic to say the least.

They have alienated 50% of the market with a stupid error.
Completely agree, it's just such a stupid "we just can't be bothered to think of something remotely clever" name, they may as well have called it Cedric... no wait...

I quite like it.. That said I perhaps like the Abarth 500 a bit more but it's still a good effort. smile
