Hopefully Ford will do the usual trick of slashing thousands of the list price and offering 0% finance. Whatever they do, this is a serious next car contender for me, other options are 2nd hand buys of either E60 M5, C6 Corvette or E92 M3.
I don't think they will need to offer discounts as I'm fairly sure that these cars will fly off the shelves. I believe that Ford have an Evoque on their hands. IE, something that they won't be able to make enough of for the UK market and I recon people will be able to buy early cars and then sell on for a profit.

It would be nice if PH stopped comparing the car to the previous model. It needs to be compared to cars that are sold here in the UK. IE something like the 370Z or maybe a M3 for the V8 version.

Wow, great news - natural aspiration, manual gearbox, RWD, loads of grunt; PH heaven!
I escaped nearly a decade of turbo-diesels earlier this year when I got a Z4 Coupe to enjoy its N/A straight 6 with RWD and a manual box. Everything seemed to be heading for turbo's and flappy paddles and they just aren't the same!
Even the M3/4 and next AMG C-class are aiming at that, yet it used to be the States where a slushbox was hard to avoid!
The beauty of the Mustang is you can have the EcoBoost and/or flappy paddles if you want but the manual N/A V8 is still being offered - personally I would rather have the V6 than the EcoBoost but that won't be an option in the UK.
This must be the first Ford I have really wanted to own since I had my first 2.8 Capri back in the day.
I really hope it does well - perhaps BMW should have thought about a 2 Series with an updated version of the straight 6 from the E46 M3 in it. Maybe if V8 Mustang sales take off they should?
Will definitely be getting a test drive in one of these - would have to up the mortgage to buy one but you only live once.
Good luck Ford.smokin

I know it's not a lightweight, but to be fair as a v8 big coupe is't much heavier than the out going m3 v8.
and I quite like the look of this, good value too.
and there's loads of cheap options in america to boost up the bhp on these.

It's a stunning car in the metal.

Although I'd still opt for a LHD import.

With some tuning I am sure these will sell. If priced at £35,000 inc VAT and delivery quite a bargain and a seriously fast car to own and enjoy. Count me in.

Now lets hope the dealership experience isn't abysmal.

What form does Ford US have when it comes to mid-life facelifts and subtle improvements to keep the model fresh? Are we talking lots of updates during its life cycle or is this going to be the same exact car for 5 years before getting ever so slightly new lenses, paint and interior options?

P.S. My OCD meant that I had to change your spelling, grammar and punctuation; I mean no disrespect in doing so.
That's fine happy to be upgraded grammatically speaking. I have no idea how well a mustang will handle I know the latest boss 302 had rave reviews I doubt a 35k car will come close to a 911 but I suspect getting very large bhp say 600 plus from the car will be relatively easy an thus you could have a 190mph plus car for less than a well spec'd three series.
Yes, I can imagine that some 991 turbo owners spend that much on options alone!

Depends, the S197 GT/V6 remained pretty much unchanged from 05 to late 09. Only the GTCS (California Special) was any different (Excluding the GT500 - but that remained unchanged from 07-09). The 2010-2014 car changed quite a bit and had a few variants, I guess it depends what the consumer says about the looks. Most were happy with the 05-09 car but the '10 car wasn't that well received so Ford changed it.

I agree about the I4, I'd sit on orange boxes at home to scrape the extra £5k together to get a V8.

As far as defending the live axle goes, the only real defence of it is for drag racing applications where the benefits outweigh the negatives by some margin; Chevy fitted a live axle setup to their COPO Camaros rather than a beefed up IRS transaxle (what the road car has) as did Dodge with the DragPak Challenger. Will there be another Cobra Jet Mustang?

But on a car that let’s face it the vast majority of the buyers of this car (especially in the UK) are not going to race it. People like me (my car is approaching 50/50 race/road) are a minority and hopefully there will always be a few of the older cars around to build a race car out of if I need them.

Hmmm, might need to buy one of these in a few years once I'm done with my 335i. I need a V8 in my life!

Always thought the mid 80's Mustangs were the least pretty ever - it's not close competition in the ugly stakes but they really have lost their way with the styling after getting it almost right over the last 10 odd years.

Just you then. TBH I wasn't sold on this version initially but it's grown on me. I registered my interest with Ford last nightand mine's going to be a V8 GT in gunmetal grey me thinks. That green on on the youtube link sounded epic.
