I think it's too late for Honda, They should have just made a hardcore version for their fans. I don't see many people choosing this over a Golf , Focus or Megane regardless of how good it is unfortunately.
Couldnt disagree more, if you're a Honda fan you wouldn't look twice at a Ford or Renault no matter how good the press say they are. The Honda is a premium product compared to those.VW can compete on quality but not engineering excellence. VW make the equivilent of white goods under all their various sub brands, yawn another VAG product with a 2.0t engine.. snore...
Honda are one of the few remaining companies that only make cars for themselves, no other marques.
Obviously i'm a Honda fan.
I think that's awesome, but I don't like the quad pipes ! They would have to go.
4 cylinder cars should have 1 pipe, or twin pipes from one backbox if you must. don't as me why, but in my head it just is.
rest is great, even the colour & graphics. As for the Focus looking better, I am a big ford fan, but this generation Focus is a proper dogs dinner no matter what version.

I'd definitely consider one....
We currently have a Megane 250 cup and personally I think a hot hatch should be a bit bling.
For me the Golf R is too understated and the 4 exhausts look out of place on that car in particular.
A friend of mine however thinks the complete opposite and would only buy an understated car, usually from the VW empire and would never even consider a Renault, VXR or Honda etc.

I don't see a problem with the exhausts; I don't get the 'all PH'ers must hate multiple exhausts' bandwagon that rears it's head in pretty much any new car article and gets repeated over and over and over...
Apologies. I've never seen it. It does look bloody silly though.foxhounduk said:
Finally. Honda. A turbo charger.
I have never bought Hondas (save a 96 civic coupe as a student at uni - please forgive me) for this very reason; no torque. I like the bleeding ears howl of a vtech but there is no torque.
The engine is attached to this magical thing called a gearbox. Stir it a bit and you'll be amazed at what happens!I have never bought Hondas (save a 96 civic coupe as a student at uni - please forgive me) for this very reason; no torque. I don't mind the 4 exhausts tbh.
It would look better with twin centre ones but it is what it is.
What I do find obscene is the reported price - £30k for a Honda Civic. What a joke! Those young enough to want to own one (given the looks) won't be able to afford one. Those old enough to be able to buy one won't want one. That's decent second hand Gen II Cayman S money and there's no comparison in my mind.
I had the old EP3 Type R and then an S2000 and i'm a massive Honda fan but this just doesn't do it for me.

Not quite; most PH'ers (myself included) dislike cars that have multiple exhausts on a small capacity engine. Much akin to 'baked bean can' sized exhaust on a 1.2 litre Clio/Saxo/Corsa; it is all show, no go.I believe there was an article or thread a while back that discussed exhaust etiquette. Off the top of my head, the general jist wasa mximum of one exhaust up to 1800cc, two up to 3000cc and four above that. I think the exhaust diameter and fuel type was discussed as well.
While I quite like the general style of this concept (it's quite fun and lairy looking), the four exhausts would definitely put me off buying one.
So long as the sound is right from the exhaust, I wouldn't care if it looked like a batmobile with an afterburner on it....

But I do have to add that the styling was very poor with cat to begin with... I didn't like the fn2 much too either....
I still think that Honda is crazy to release this in it's current form, especially since the model is into it's 4th year of production.... wonder if that's why it's still a concept??

It's going to have nearly (or more than) 300hp, I don't think you could accuse it of being "all show and no go" by any measurable stretch.daveco said:

That looks absolutely absurd. Laughably bad design imo.
Not that I am going to read your response but can you not explain why? What is it with PH culture these days to post up moronic statements without explanation? Add some value!Me 1:0 You

You're an archetypal up-in-arms PH cliché:£xx,000 for a Civic/Golf/Fiesta - ridiculous!
Too expensive for 17 years olds
Secondhand car is cheaper than new car - who'da thunk it?!
Firstly, there isn't a reported price - they just mentioned in the region of £27k-30k; if I was going to guess I'd put it near the Megane, £28.5k-£29k.
Hot hatches have always appealed to the younger end of the market but been out of budget for most, nothing has changed - could a 17 year old have afforded an EP3 at £23,100 in 2001? National average salary was £16,337 then, now it's about £26,500, so (ignoring all other factors) a new Civic Type R is more affordable on average (141% of average wage then, 102%-113% now).

I just don't think I could justify (even now) spending nearly £30k on a hot hatch. Hot hatches, in my mind, should be around £20k at most.
I know the "secondhand car" argument is a bit of a naff one and I see what the other poster above says about the Type R and a Cayman not being comparable. My point (perhaps not made too well) was that you could get so much more car than a Civic for nearly £30k.

The last round of hot hatches that were in the 20k region had circa 200hp. You can buy a Fiesta, or a Clio, or a 208 or probably something German for that sort of money that will have that level of performance.I just don't think I could justify (even now) spending nearly £30k on a hot hatch. The game has moved on. So has pricing. Not to mention inflation as well.
