styling is for the under 20s, insurance will be for the over 30s
I'm 26, can afford to run and insure one and like the way it looks, so where does that leave me? zeppelin101 said:

Not quite; most PH'ers (myself included) dislike cars that have multiple exhausts on a small capacity engine. Much akin to 'baked bean can' sized exhaust on a 1.2 litre Clio/Saxo/Corsa; it is all show, no go.
It's going to have nearly (or more than) 300hp, I don't think you could accuse it of being "all show and no go" by any measurable stretch.Multiple exhausts are the domain of high performance sports cars and exotica, not a dressed up family car. Personally I have always related exhaust size/quantity to capacity and number of cylinders.
Having four exhausts on a Civic is like wearing size 14 shoes, even though you're a size 5, just because it makes people think you have a big dick.

And people complain on here that manufacturers aren't making sporty cars that interest them.
No wonder when you're determined to buy anything but a remotely sporting offering brand new from an OEM...
I agree with that and there is so much bland design out there at the moment, that car companies at least deserve a pat on the back for putting this sort of car into production......regardless of how many exhausts it has. No wonder when you're determined to buy anything but a remotely sporting offering brand new from an OEM...

I relate it to power - burning a given amount of fuel to generate a given amount of power generates a given amount of exhaust gases. Even if it was only one cylinder, if it's making 600hp it needs to flow 600hp-worth of gases. Sure, four exhaust tips are for styling/marketing purposes on a ~300bhp car, but fk it, it's cartoonish through and through following the best traditions of the likes of Lamborghini. The Beaver King said:

"...when it really makes you look like a clown."Agree - too many exhausts. Also not a fan of colour coding on wheels, and that applies to the RS concept equally. Otherwise I like it. My criticism is that it won't be fast enough to justify the looks - even 1300kg and 300bhp is not enough to carry it off. 4WD and 400bhp perhaps... Hate cars which shout louder than they go.
In any case, if it has a rock hard suspension like the last one I'll look elsewhere.

5 door only is a big gamble as that may put a few people off.
It's so refreshing to see the same ste spouted about the Honda Type R that gets spouted in Focus RS or Golf GTI/R threads for example the size of the wing, the number of exhausts, how it looks chav, even a token halfords cliche, a comparison to a out of warranty Porsche and a Clarkson comment to - good consistency from those who don't like a car but feel the need to comment.
I just don't think the majority of PH members are fans of hot hatches or understand their purpose, even less so the newest era of hot hatches which in the hands of an average driver can show up all sorts of PH approved cars including some supercars (possibly a Audi R8 V8 as well )

They seem to have been announcing this at shows for the past two years. Near to me there was even a billboard advert with it on, why is it taking so long to make it? i thought it was already on sale!
Probably due to the fact they have bigged it up as a ring record holder so much they have had to go back to the drawing board a few times, it really should be beating the record instantly because if it doesn't there gonna look a bit silly Also it won't be long before the Megane 4 will be out and if the new Meg Rs is as good as the current car they won't be holding the record for long ! More choice is more win for all hot hatch fans so hurry up honda it's taken far far far to long
And come on renault also ford come on are you gonna make a decent RS this time around the last one was poo in my opinion the only good thing was the engine and that was a volvo jobbie
Looks like it has been "styled" by Hot Wheels even down to the paint job...
Also £28k when the current shape Focus ST is sub £20k is equally ridiculous. I'd rather a New Mustang, 370z, etc over this.
Equally I don't think new cars are moving the game on enough in terms of looks or performance to warranty the prices they are trying to charge hence all of the new vs used arguments.

The volume of gas produced by the engine has no relation to the number of pipes used. The reason a 4 cylinder doesn't need multiple tail pipes is that a single manifold will connect to 1 downpipe, so splitting it again doesn't nothing to reduce pressure or increase flow any pressure. On 8 and 12 cylinder cars you can have 2 separate manifolds on each of the cylinder banks feeding 2 separate down pipes, hence the use of multiple tail pipes further down the exhaust system, but these can also be piped together with a Y pipe.Traditionally the V8 model could be identified by spilt pipes at the rear now it's all show
