Another vote for the 6 series Gran Coupe:

They look so elegant in the metal IMHO

Sure ST let's have a go... firstly about the Lambo, IMO (and it's just an opinion) they are stuck in a rut firmly placed in the 1970s. The first Star Wars movie was 1977 and Lamborghini seem intent on designing cars that mimic the X-Wing fighters of that film. Yes they were "futuristic" 35 years ago but as a design language it's old hat now. That's why, almost as alone voice on Pistonheads, I like the new Lamborghini Asterion, even it does sound like it's named after on old West End theatre - perhaps Star Wars was shown there back in the 70s wink

So, that said, there are very few modern car designs I think are actually good looking, let's be honest most, due to regulation, are plug-ugly and the majority instantly forgettable. Ferraris all look like Ferraris, BMWs all look ugly, Mercs all look bent in the middle, Porsches all look like 911s and Lambos all look like X-Wing fighters.

For a design to be good looking to me it needs to be fresh, appealing, different and instantly recognisable. Some I like have already been mention - indeed the only brand new car I've really hankered for recently is the Alfa 8C Competitzione, gorgeous even if it doesn't handle as well as the less good looking Fezza. The jag F-Type is nice but too big, Maserati have gone the same way, the new GT is bloody enormous and I'd be frightened of my next door neighbours cat getting sucked into the gaping mouth while I revved it on the drive!

No, modern cars are mostly crap however there is one that hits all the spots for me, it causes divides on Pistonheads so it's a Marmite design and as they're only made to order for wealthy Arabs I'll never get one but if I had to buy a new car today I'd opt for the new Aston Martin Lagonda Sedan. biggrin

I like it. I liked the original too. I'm surprised you can't see the echos of the original design. From the 70's wink
