I think you can still do it at the post office, you won't get the disc tho.

What gets me is if you sell you car after the 1st October you automatically get the full valid months refunded, then the buyer of the vehicle has to tax it from the start of the month again.

Win,win for DVLA, rip off Britain.
Post Offices aren't open this late
They never have bin open this late
Some now open until 22.00 yes (but that's still not the point though biggrin)

Just stick a screenshot of the site down message in your windscreen. I'm sure Mr Plod will understand.

Brightside...

Less cars on the road tomorrow.

Pah! Mine is open until 2300. Bonus of it being a counter in a general shop.

Shame I taxed the car a few days ago...

I tried the website a few times at about 9pm to do my wife's car, the beta service crashed and the original wouldn't even Fire up.

No bother though, their automated phone service was quick and clear, took about 2 mins but jobs a Goodun, you don't always have to use the most modern option.

Tried that too.

Recorded message saying unavailable for "essential maintenance".

Trying to SORN my car, and tax my wifes. Can't do it by phone either.
Christ I dread the day that I might have to phone the DVLA...
I had to phone them in Aug as the online service stupidly cannot handle a card failure due to user error (I think I put in the wrong CVV code as the blasted thing has worn off my card). Instead of properly failing and allowing another attempt the error message was instead "your payment may not have gone through" and to phone the DVLA.

What kind of third world payment service cannot tell if the card payment has worked or not?
