Boring but practical.

My daughter came home in my Saab 9000 - safe as houses, loads of space/legroom, comfortable, plenty of power (2.3 full pressure turbo), and utterly anonymous and well able to withstand the rigours of hospital car park door bashing fkwittery.

All of which makes me even sadder that it's currently sat on the drive probably beyond economical repair frown

Drove a friend to hospital in labour, and then back 2 days later with a new born.

In the only datsun cherry turbo in the uk. Decent first trip for him I reckon.

A Supercharged full-fat Range Rover perfectly meets all your requirements.
This certainly seems to be shaping up as the choice of champions, although Audi RS4 / RS6 also seems a popular suggestion...

I have to say that I'm amazed this thread isn't more Volvo-flavoured. I was convinced that it would be.

With my first lad i had an impreza with scoobyworld not-too-loud-but-fruity exhaust. He was too young to notice (obv), but it felt good knowing he was being taken home in style.

This time round it's going to be M135i.

is the OP indicating that he may acquire or rent a car specifically to bring this baby home from the hospital in, or is it hypothetical?

As suggested already, something you kind of step into, rather than up or down will be of immediate relief to your other half! However sprog arrives, sitting and bending will not be on the agenda without a bit of pain going on so wing backed Recaros etc are not advised. Leather is a must, although they're not drinking much at that age so probably no risk there for the journey home!

The Rolls option sounds entirely sensible - get a chaufeur too so you don't have to walk half a mile to the car park

My first born is due in a few weeks - he or she will make the trip home strapped into a Golf R. The people's car bringing home a new person. VW should pay me for that.

I can report already that the (yet to be born) baby does seem to become much more active when in the car and it's set to 'race mode' - so seems to have a thing for fake engine notes.

No, the OP happens to be a lucky so-and-so who works for PistonHeads and as such has occasional access to posh cars in exchange for writing about them. Hi!
