So, a battleship grey Audi estate for £100k, OR one of the "£100k garages" full of a range of much, much more interesting cars, that between them cover all the bases? Yup, i'll take the £100k garage option please!
(it'll be interesting to see what the end of year 1 depreciation is like on this car, i suspect you could buy a rather nice everyday estate car with just that sum.......)
Well as much as I understand your dilemma, in the context of typical RS6 buyer it simply doesn't exist. If you're going to spend 100k on RS6 you most probably already have your garage filled with cars worth much more than that and an RS6 is just what you chose as your daily driver. (it'll be interesting to see what the end of year 1 depreciation is like on this car, i suspect you could buy a rather nice everyday estate car with just that sum.......)
I understand the logic in that approach, I would just never go there myself.
Loosing £15k per year depreciation over 4 years, is actually loosing £30k of gross income, that kind of steals the jam from my dohnut.
I would rather spend the 100k on a range of different machinery, some new and some old.
you can get audi/vw MMI to apple lightning (and to USB)

My kind of tale, this. I do desire a fast Q-car and Alpinas fit the bill rather well.
On side note, "Debadging: £0". If I am ever in a position where I am choosing this option on a car I will demand money back. If they're going back into their revenue stream I want the benefit, thank you!
I bet Audi would charge a few bob for an rs6 badge. On side note, "Debadging: £0". If I am ever in a position where I am choosing this option on a car I will demand money back. If they're going back into their revenue stream I want the benefit, thank you!

Only people I personally know who've run these cars all do so via their business on lease/rental agreements. I've never known anybody pay their own actual money to buy one.
Weirdly I've met two people in the last fortnight who bought an RS6 with their own hard-earned. One of them lives in my village. He took me for a spin.
Nothing will prepare you for how quickly a car of that size picks up speed.
Brutal. I thought it sounded pretty good too.
Not as dramatic as a big N/A AMG lump but special nonetheless.

Panamera is only 4 seats and boot is pitiful.
True it is only four seats.but with said rear seats down you can comfortably get two MTB's in there..
And it has steering feel
Not driven this version (only previous one) and (gonna get flamed for this..) it was boring.
yes it was quick, but it just didn't want to make me drive it spiritedly.
No idea if this version is better, as I haven't driven one.

But to get RS6 performance you need to buy the turbo which is £30k more than an RS6. And although the RS6 doesn't have a very nice behind it's a supermodel compared to the panamera!but with said rear seats down you can comfortably get two MTB's in there..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc...
Well, I had the choice and bought the Pana turbo S - plenty of shove for me ! (especially now it's been fettled with)
For me, and I've done this previously, if I was to go for a utilitarian estat, it would be a Diesel 5 series, or even a mondeo - I can chuck what the hell I like in there and really wouldn't worry too much
but thats just me

Its appauling that a £100k car media interface doesn't support beyond an Iphone 4 - that annoyed me on a £15K skoda! It galled me slightly to buy a £3.00 adaptor from Amazon, but it soved the problem.
It sound like the Skoda's blue tooth is better than the Audi one - never had any issues so glad I added the option.
On the whole iPhone 5 matter - that's really Apples choice and not Audis since Apple doesn't support the same audio controls API on the Lightning cables that the previous cables up to iPhone 4 had. So you can charge and you can BT-stream your music but there is no longer a point in the "music interface" of old for integrated control from the built in satnavIt sound like the Skoda's blue tooth is better than the Audi one - never had any issues so glad I added the option.

Having driven both, the Porsche is the drivers choice, no doubt, for me it's a space thing.
Both have pretty catastrophic depreciation, but as I've stated elsewhere, as long as you can live with it, then why worry. I guess I stumble on the RS6 because my biturbo is 95% of the car for 60% of the price so I don't think the extra depreciation is worth it. As for the Mtb thing, they go inside or preferably on my tow bar bike rack.

The fact that most people assume it's just a normal A6 driven by a bloke who was too mean to pay for metallic paint adds to its appeal
Now I think the vast majority of the public are mouthbreathers who pay no attention and drift through life, especially whilst on the roads (much like everyone on PH) but I suspect they'd know this wasn't just a TDI.I know the S Line trim looks blingy and sporty but it's still very, very easy to distinguish an RS6 from an S Line TDI.
I don’t think it’s like Audi don’t know how to do steering – it’s just that by choice the cars leave the factory optimised for stability at autobahn speeds and to understeer at the limit.
You can do something about the steering feel issue – even within the scope of the Audi recommendations – by taking off some front and rear toe and reducing the rear negative camber. That does a lot to improve turn-in response and feedback.
I have an A7 on factory sports suspension – steel springs and fixed rate dampers, riding 21 inch rims. The cornering performance is great for such a large car. I really do love driving it. It even excelled doing passenger laps five up at Bruntingthorpe for a charity track day! For me it handles a bit better than the A6 – it’s slightly wider and lower. Plus you don’t see that many of them around.
Did you consider an RS7, Chris? I bottled it when I let myself think too long about the fuel bills so my A7 is the Bi-turbo diesel with an ABT ECU. That takes it up to 360 bHP and 700Nm – probably still not quite a match for the RS6 but I’d be happy to lend it to you for a comparison if you’re interested.
Glad you’re enjoying yourself in an Audi at last – I hope they let you keep it for an extended period.
