By the way, I'm 34 - which puts me in the target age range. My choice at the moment would be a Merc C-Class. I want luxury and character and a stuck on ipad lookalike in the middle of the dash for my extra money!
Fixed that for you...
Very droll... :-)

Although I agree on the stuck on iPad bit! Like the rest of it though.

Interesting (well, ish) to see the difference in weight between the two diesel models, given its presumably the same engine. Have they scrimped on sound proofing to get the headline 99g/km or have they used better tech somewhere.

And if it's the latter, why haven't they translated that across to the somewhat lardy V6?

List price ? when does anyone pay list price ffs, i.e. go into a showroom and pay whats on the price list, they will be leased by and large, so its all down to the monthly cost which is mainly residual and manufacturer discount based.
Company car drivers are taxed on the list price, so it is important to a big proportion of the drivers looking at this car.
True, although the lower CO2 rating still makes it cheaper than any of the 3-series range, I think.

It was rather a lot of hype for the fast one to weigh 1,665kg, which is more than an E92 M3, a car widely regarded (on PH at least) as 'a bit fat'.

Hope it does well for them either way, and that they put the V8 in one. No doubt that will weigh 1,800kg by then...

Hmm, the entry level 3-series diesel is less than £26k from what I can see. I know there will be spec differences, etc. and that BiK rate will help the Jaguar as a company car but that's a pretty hefty difference in headline price. It'll be interesting to see how company leasing costs compare overall.
That one works out about £800 more per year of BiK (so £160 at 20% tax) and about the same for the 320d ED. As you say, it'll come down to lease costs.

Very average interior and certainly not to the level of the new C Class and I think the new A4's interior will wipe the floor with it.

Will it do that without the engine running though?
My Range Rover did, so as long as it's diesel then yes.
Playing on the configuratoratorator it looks like Cabin Pre Heat is a £960 option.
Heated screen is £300 which would do for me.

It doesn't look too bad next to its main rivals.

Given the choice i'd probably drop in to the Jaguar showroom just to have a look up-close on my way to the Kia dealership:

That V6 is a real bit of Leyland "fk it, that'll do" engineering living on - it's the same block as the V8 with the extra two cylinders not being used and with different heads. As such I imagine it's not light for the displacement. You can find pics online of it with a bit of searching.

It's stty enough when someone makes a 90 degree V6 to share tooling, but leave it to JLR to take it this far. As long as it's not on a bit the customer can see what does it matter though, eh? The spirit of penny pincher Lyons lives on biggrin

sounds like 15 too many in this segment, only need white, silver & black.

just specced up a V6-S on the website and then a 335i to the same spec and the beemer is 2K cheaper. the jag has more power though.

interestingly the beemer has alot less standard equip, i don't understand why jag don't do that to make the car look cheaper and get people in the showrooms to start with.

So the base diesel is £3k more than the base petrol?

£3000 buys a lot of unleaded, makes me wonder if the diesel is cost effective for anyone doing less than 25k miles pa (which, let's face it, will be most owners).

check how much petrol the other half has used
The answer, every time, is "All of it"........ No woman in her right mind would fill up a car with fuel when she can juuuussst make it home with what's in there. Ideally the car should literally conk out as it rolls up the driveway, which means she has judged it perfectly!
Instead of expecting that your other half has run the car out of petrol, you'll know before your journey starts.

The car does look great - I guess this means the XF is going up in price then based on the figures.

The CO2 values are shocking on all the petrols so maybe the low prices are there to attract private users rather than company drivers?

It doesn't feel very..... Jaguar. Not even by their more modern standards. Pace and space, maybe - I'm struggling to see the grace... :/

You might not want an auto but, if you add that in, the difference is actually £4,750: think I would have petrol, thanks. I think these price differentials are more or less similar to BMW 3 series

Someone commented on price being near the XF - no different from BMW where a 320d specced up to match 520d (satnav, xenons and leather) is actually more expensive
