RE: Chaos at the Nurburgring again
Discussion
This is why Bernie Ecclestone can become emotionally detached from F1 when it suits him. It might grate on us but it makes sense from a business point of view because it means you are negotiating from a position of worth than of sentiment.
I don't give a flying f' about the Nurburgring, but the very fact that it is revered by many makes it a prime case for parasites to fleece political types on the back of 'public opinion'.
This is also how aholes like Craig Whyte can make millions on the back of fans' loyalty to a dead football club.

I can only say that I love how Europe manages to make itself unpopular even with the Germans that run it. Way to go arsemaggots.
Ha, very true. Also, why's the state aid illegal? because it's anti competitive and giving an unfair advantage to the ring? taking business away from all the other 28km public toll road/race tracks competing to be a test bed for manufacturers, race venue and a massive tourist draw?
If Spain, Italy, France and the UK have something similar I could see their point....

Anyone else completely sick of Brussels stepping in and either messing things up for no apparent reason or dictating to countries (thanks Mr Blair for selling us out to the EU when no-one wants to be in it!) what we have to do?
I own an amazon business and lately I have had to send EVERYTHING under the sun you can think of to keep my store open, to the EU. Why? No one has any idea.
The info they wanted:
All forms of ID, drivers license, passport, bills.
They wouldn't accept photocopies - had to be the original document.
All forms of proof of address including more bills, bank statement both business and personal for all company directors, etc.
Why do they want all of this info?

Money laundering regulations, I suspect. I own an amazon business and lately I have had to send EVERYTHING under the sun you can think of to keep my store open, to the EU. Why? No one has any idea.

Had my bank account frozen twice, to much inconvenience.

Good to see the actual manner in which German business is run being highlighted once again.
The TT course would be a much better place to test road cars.
A fantasy but imagine it being widened, run off areas added etc. Would be the best track in the world.
Really? I think that would be terrible! The TT's special because it's narrow/has no run off, etc. The TT course would be a much better place to test road cars.

Plus don't forget that those roads are actually used daily for the 50 weeks the TT's not there for people to go to work, see their friends, etc. Can't see that they'd put up with the inconvenience constantly because one car company or another wants to wave their dick about.
To get back on topic:
Very obviously it was superflous to built a rollercoaster ride at the 'Ring since the
political spectacle at the side is becoming a spectacular ride in itself, even for the
ones not inclined to have go at racing.
The drama continues:
After media speculations arose 2 weeks ago about the financial capabilities of the
buyer Capricorn Group and in person Mr. Robertino Wild as the (co)-owner, the following
came to the public lately:
To get financial backing for his bid for the ring he rose loans on his "valuable art
collection" and private home. Too bad he forgot, that he already had lended
those assets as securities to other creditors for other investments...
To the bystander it looks like a mirracle how this high stakes poker trick lastet so long.
Somehow the idea appears that the whole Capricorn bid was a puppet played by interested
(political) parties, who wanted the 'Ring to go to the "right" buyer for the "right" price.
Thus it would have been an "accident" that nobody outbid the puppet. Not even the ADAC...
family home. As we have considerable revenue through a (non public) company we had our
butt holes inspected with a light bulb before getting a mortgage on the old shed...
Obviously Deutsche Bank lets the apprentices check debtors who ask for a few 100K and those
are examined by the book, while the directors of the same bank lent 100 Mion on your blue
eyes and your "art collection". Sounds likely? No!
Sounds like politicaly backed credit fraud. Or to put it in the words of Mr. Wild:
"Under pressure I made some mistakes and I want to make good on it." Poor chap.
Watch this space. The head of state Rhineland-Pfalz has scheduled a press conference about the debacle
for this (Tuesday) afternoon.

TBH, i never understood why the 'ring needed a theme park? It's a bit like building another themepark at Alton Towers or whatever? Surely the track is the ride??
Income from the track plus the commercial units don't cover running costs of what is a very large site. When you look at commercial yields the money is in ABC rents rather than industrial. Add to that that the best way to monetise visitors is a gate fee to enter the property and you need something on the other side of those gates to justify that spend and to extract additional head spend.
Given its location in the hugely important tourist destination of the Eifel Mountains and a theme park seems logical to draw tourists not just specialist motoring enthusiasts.
It's just been very badly run and as with almost any private enterprise that receives enormous public money one can only ask how was it spent.
One of the best things they could have done is look to use the circuit for other sports. As the area is a major cycling destination setting up a competitive cycle element may have had legs.
