I don't think he has made this up.
There is no reason to make this up.

But I do think he MUST NOT PAY the buyer back with a bank transfer.

This needs to be sent back from the finance house and he can then pay them again.
But a bit late for that now as he has sold to WBAC for £3500 less.

If so, then the OP is one sad individual.
The OP currently has twenty eight posts to his name. He occasionally pops on the web for advice then leaves. We, on the other hand have thousands of posts to our names. Perhaps we're the saddos? biggrin

But it is such a bizarre thing to do. Agree to buy a car, pay off the 15K outstanding finance, then apparently change your mind and be happy to only have 11.5k returned.

I can only think it's some kind of money laundering exercise, or that the pay off of the 15k was done with someone else's money and therefore whatever he gets back from the OP is effectively cash in pocket.

Strange.

Maybe he has dropped off the radar, as he has tested his theory with us, and we have given him multiple scenarios now?

OP its worth noting that if you are genuine, and do post up the letter, cover all personal details up, I wouldnt usually mention this, but if your stupid enough to wire him the 12.5 grand you are definitly stupid enough to post personal details on the tinterweb.

Lets good at this from a different point of view.

I win 25k when my numbers came up the weekend. I currently have a daily family bus runner but always fancied something 'for the weekend'. I fancy something like a M3, allow myself a budget of £20k as I want to take the wife away somewhere nice. So as I have the cash now in my bank I waz £5k oh ten nights in the Maldives and find my dream M3 for £20K. Agree the sale with the buy, pay off the £15k outstanding and tell the seller I'll drop the other £5k off on collection.
I do one for ten nights and look forward to collecting the car on return.
Get back to find the flat roof on the downstairs extension has been leaking and fallen in on itself whilst I'm away. £20k worth of damage. Stupidly forgot to renew the home insurance too, not covered and no savings so I now need the cash for the car back. Doesn't seem that far flung does it.

If it were me though I think I'd gone through with the sale and bunged the hole with the M3. At least I could drive it when it wasn't raining and have a sky light on the sunnier days.

Hi everyone. I appreciate not everyone believes my situation so i'll keep this one brief for those of you who wish to know what is happening.

Spoke to mystery man this afternoon and he has was shocked that wbac as well as the main dealer gave a quote as low and wanted confirmation that i had explored all options before selling. He has accepted the situation and sent me his bank details. I am in the process of transferring him the money.

Unfortunately this will be my last post on here as it's turned ugly. Thank you to everyone who has given me advice, most of which i have taken. I do appreciate it.

For those who are interested the car was a Nissan 370z. I didn't disclose the car on here sooner as i was concerned of the abuse i may receive from people such as those currently giving me abuse.

Thanks again to those who have helped me. If anything ever does come back to me i shall let you know as no doubt there will be others in a similar position.

fking lol!

This is a technique sit com writers use you know. Think up the most ridulously hilarious scenario then work backward to a mundane scene that signals the start.

Hang on hang on

Did the OP say a Nissan 370z! Did the bonnet fly up on the test drive?

This is getting more ridiculous by the minute.

I'd opted out but can't resist this now.

WTF is going on here?

Some of you turn on the OP and accuse him of all sorts purely because you feel he didn't take/value you opinions and advice....

REALLY?

Sad individuals.
