Good luck OP. I just hope you have at least received some professional advice from a solicitor. Please report back in a couple of months on how it all turned out...

WTF.
Indeed and the comment about he didn't post what car as everyone would take the piss because it's a 370Z really?? It's not the ferrari owners club it's Pistonheads and that's a very pistonhead style car.

Hi everyone. I appreciate not everyone believes my situation so i'll keep this one brief for those of you who wish to know what is happening.

Spoke to mystery man this afternoon and he has was shocked that wbac as well as the main dealer gave a quote as low and wanted confirmation that i had explored all options before selling. He has accepted the situation and sent me his bank details. I am in the process of transferring him the money.

Unfortunately this will be my last post on here as it's turned ugly. Thank you to everyone who has given me advice, most of which i have taken. I do appreciate it.

For those who are interested the car was a Nissan 370z. I didn't disclose the car on here sooner as i was concerned of the abuse i may receive from people such as those currently giving me abuse.

Thanks again to those who have helped me. If anything ever does come back to me i shall let you know as no doubt there will be others in a similar position.
Kev, I do hope this doesn't turn out badly for you, but since the overwhelming response on here has been to call this a scam, then I'm amazed that you've simply ignored all of it and carried on and put yourself in a dodgy position that you had no need to.

Fingers crossed it is fine, but this is such a weird way of buying a car that every sign points to this being hooky.

Op please update in a few months.

Did you ever get legal advice in case this went wrong? But it does look like a scam or money laundering.

If this turns out to be a scam and he looses his money and his car, he very well is not going to come back here and admit it will he? This is one that I think we will never know.

If so, then the OP is one sad individual.

You are correct - that's why I said IF the OP is one.

However, my main point stands, we see far too many fantasists and trolls on this site. That is a sad fact.

There is a blue 370z reg RE12 FBB on FB with a Kevin P, if this is true and he really did send the guy a refund having sold it via WBAY It's the most unbelievable story, hence I don't believe a word of it.

I have bought a couple of cars where I paid off the finance for the owner and I made 100% sure I had the car the docs and all the keys before paying off the finance.

This is what I can't get my head around. Seeing as you've scrolled way down his photo's to find the reg laugh, his holiday ties up to the dates he was away.

If you try and check the car on WBAC, it won't give you a price, says theres an error which I understand it does if a car has just been sold with them so you can't check if the value has changed. Could just be a coincidence.

But, everyone told him not to do give him the cash, but yet he still did it. We've had no proof of anything, and the car is still showing as finance outstanding on the car. HPI can be a little slow, but usually not 17 days.

Something isn't right, but there must be an element of truth as people don't make this stuff up.

Just going to HPI the car daily to see if a) the finance clears, and b) if it has any police interest on the car.

So is it possible that he took some of the advice, spoke to the finance company fraud department who checked out the person who paid the money and it all came up OK so he knows he is safe selling the car on and refunding the money?

Sounds like the sort of scam that could work very easily if you had an insider at the finance company or a bank. But that does seem a little elaborate.

But what are the finance company's fraud department really going to do.

They will have checked the account that paid the outstanding finance, and if that bank account is legit, that's probably the end of case for them. However, in the event that card is later flagged up as stolen, the cardholders bank will chase the RCI FS for the money, who in turn will chase Kevin.

Now if it were a case of just your initial post, okay, I can semi accept the matter. But what I can't accept is then selling the car to WBAC on the buyers behalf and giving the guy money. WHO DOES THAT? It just doesn't make any sense.
