Wifes Renault Megane - pull on to the drive, switch off, quick flash of the main beam gives you 30 seconds of headlights to see you to the door, two flashes = 60 seconds, three = 90 and so on.

My Elise, has a heater that blows hot air biggrin

For what it's worth, it drives me crackers trying to decipher all of the product codes that get bandied around here. I am interested in cars but not to the point of memorising every manufacturer's code numbers. (I doubt very much that many people would discuss cars with their mates in that way!)

See, I don't understand this. I didn't go out of my way to memorize the manufacturer codes, I just picked them up over time as they're mentioned quite a bit. If I started referring to my car as a 1U vRS, the vast majority wouldn't know what I'm on about; which is fair enough. But a lot of cars are commonly referred to by their mfg code, and for these cars I don't think its unreasonable to expect other people to understand.

Any of those white goods cars with codes for names aren't worth remembering.

I like when I forget to wind the windows up after removing the ignition key, I don't have to switch the ignition on, I simply wind the winder. Hehe.

Or if you have a 'white goods' car hold lock on the remote and it does it all for you...

Reversible floor in the back of my avant, carpet and flush for normal use but you can turn it over and it sits recessed and its waterproof, ideal for muddy boots etc.

Pah, mine opens itself fully by a button on the key, and closes fully by itself by a button in the boot hehe

Soft close is a nice touch, my old E38 7 series had it. You just need to "drop" the boot lid.

The fact the radio doesn't turn down and the wiper doesn't wipe when I reverse. Until such time I become an invalid who can't press buttons, I don't need the car to do it for me. And if I want to move the mirror I'll that myself as well.

Best feature on my car - intermittent wipers that you can choose the delay by turning the stalk. Coincidently the worst feature on my other car is auto wipers, terrible decision.

Clutch switch to disengage cruise control that only needs a little touch I like.

Convertible roof switch by the gear stick I liked on my old convertible. New one feels like I'm asking teacher for permission to pee.

Quite a few on the mk1 kuga

A start button for the engine rather than an ignition

At night there is a dim light cast onto the centre console from the interior light area which means you don't have to have the console lights on.

There is "secret" compartments underneath the rear seat footwells

When you unlock the car there is lights underneath the wingmirrors which light up the side of the car so you can see the handles and the ground.

Heated front windscreen - an absolute god send in winter.

split tailgate - i thought pointless at first but its brilliant if you want to just throw something into the boot real quick.

The timer adjuster on the wipers common on most fords for ages. Lets you get them just right

Hold down the open button on the fob and all the windows go down, and visa versa.

You can close the air vents completely so that no dust gets into the vanes.

the cubbyhole under the arm rest can hold a 2 litre bottle of water.

There is no screw cap on the fuel tank filler, just shove the nozzle in. At first i thought it was missing.

Thats it off the top of my head but for a mainstream family hack it has been well thought out.

rofl

Did one want a starter motor to start his engine, or will you do it manually because you aren't an invalid? You mention you like to use cruise control, why is this? Is it too difficult for you to maintain your speed by small variations in the amount of plantar- or dorsiflexion of you ankle to adjust for hills?

It's not about whether you can or can't do it, it's about having things which just make driving that little bit easier smile

Hill start assist - holds the brakes on for a second or two if you're on an incline so you don't need to faff with handbrake or jumping to throttle. Nice in traffic on a hill.

Refrigerated cup holder in the arm-rest.

The little arm that hands me my seat-belt...feels like I have my own robot butler smile

Hill start assist is a nice one I'd forgotten about that. Got a long and particularly steep hill round here that often has heavy start/ stop traffic. In my new Golf I never once need to touch the handbrake going up it smile

The soft suspension and its laid back attitude makes me a very different driver. And it really is built like a tank.
