Small features you like about your car...

I like the black roof lining in my Golf, makes the whole interior match. And the stereo is good by my standards (probably not compared to more modern ones though).

Is dual zone climate control considered a useful feature by many? I have it but don't see the point at all, never felt the need to have one side different to the other.

I often prefer the cabin to be slightly warmer than most of my passengers, so it's nice for them to be able to have it set to their temperature than to mine. If you only ever drive on your own, no, there isn't really much point, but if you have passengers regularly it can be.

It's also good if you're transporting food, on my car I can set the footwell on the passenger side to be cold, thus it keeps food a bit colder for longer; but then I also have a cool-box function in the centre console which is nice

Buttons and knobs. As in everything is operated by a simple button or knob, no multi-function (cost saving!) menus to access.

No because starting an engine is physically difficult and I'm likely to want to do it when I turn the key or press the button.

Cruise control because I find it easier than moderating my own speed. I'm actually quite good at it - but cruise is better.

Please note this is a world away from listening to the radio and it turning down because of something else I'm doing, listening to parking sensors for example, doesn't mean that I don't want to know what's being said just then, particularly if at the same time I'm actually using my eyes like in the olden days to have inspected the space first and then judge the gap behind me. Ditto the mirror - I'd actually prefer to be able to see the cars I'm parking between at normal height. Lowering the mirror when you select reverse generally assumes you're parking next to a kerb which isn't always the case. Sometimes I do lower it - when I choose to.

Have you tried the anti-stall on the latest Transits? Just means you can't creep in a queue without jumping forward and going faster than you want to, then it slows down just when the people behind think that's how fast you're going to go. Or you can leave a gap and have people pull in to it.

I like the window blinds on rear doors and tailgate. They retract into the door when not in use. Can get privacy or shade when required.
'privacy glass' is not a good look on any car IMHO.

You set the control to the other mirror to get it to stop. You have an option.

Memory settings per key.

Just having the car remember all the settings per key, seats, mirrors, climate, radio stations etc. etc. So I don't have to turn the climate down from 28ºc or change from Radio 4, or move the seat again after my wife has been in the car.

thats the one i was going to post , BMW X5 little red light so you can see where the dam switch covers have popped off to this time

the tailgate helps to stop your stuff falling out so its helpful , cant drive with the leg extenders and wouldnt know from a passenger point of view

however id also offer 1 shot windows , i love 1 shot windows for some reason

I wonder if he even likes electric mirrors at all? I mean, why would you want the passenger side mirror electric when you can just reach across and adjust it yourself?

It's a small feature because you don't notice it at all unless you are 'pressing on'. You'd never need it in a town. Active torque differential on the Quattro. Amazing on the twisties - feels like you are being pushed into tight corners.

Auto wipers switch on rear if reversing.
4 cup holders in the front.
Split tailgate for loading up stuff, sitting on or opening the top section to shelter from rain if walking the dog.
Access mode in air suspension.
3rd row seats can be accessed with one hand, Clarkson did it wrong.
3 sun roofs.

Most of the things I like in the 1 Series (E83 :-)) have been mentioned, but I must admit I do like being able to display everything from the obc on the stereo. No idea why, just appeals to my inner geek.

Oh and the noise of the engine. That will never get old :-)

Being able to run my heater on hot for de-misting or to suit my passengers, but being able to put my centre vent on cold so I stay comfortable when the inside of the car is baking (or the complete reverse)!
