I want to say "And here's one I started earlier", but it's too early yet in the General Election campaign for me to unveil the secret army.

Oops, did I say that out loud?

Rich! I'm rich I tell you! I've been offered a whole £30 on eBay for my tax disc. Yes, that's thirty actual pounds. mwahahahahahahahahahahaha

On a related note a 'friend' of mine wonders if there is a half decent app on android to anpr a car and let him know if it's taxed/mot'd/insured.

I heard that, technically, it's an offence to knowingly display an out of date tax disc.

Mine was removed on the 1st too. Much better smile

The holder in my car was installed by a Frenchman 10 years ago.
It is going to welded on and be a PITA to remove so I really can't be bothered.

Had one of those aluminium tax disc holders in my bmw. Fell off the window about 3 weeks ago and wouldn't stick back on the glass properly..now sitting in the glovebox.

I guess there are collectors for the disc but what use would the holder be for now? A giant medallion? Door wedge, hockey puck?

My richbrook is now a glass coaster. Too nice to throw away. But the disc is gone and shredded. Crazy eBay stuff going on. Not for me that.

.
Dog walk today revealed only three vehicles (from a sample of around 350) without VEDs in the windscreen.

Two were on the same driveway, the other was a rental car.

99% failure rate! Why? Is it that folk do not know or do not care?

For some people, having talked to quite a few on this, it's down to not actually trusting the authorities that you can remove them.
After so many years of threats and intimidation by the police and DVLA, and being told that even having the disc in the wrong place was enough to get you prosecuted and fined, people are going to take a long time to shake that mentality off. There are even stories of people being fined after traffic wardens reported them due to not being able to read the disc due to condensation on the windscreen! When the authorities act like the Gestapo, they breed fear and contempt, and that's why the discs aren't coming off in droves. Also of course, people just can't be arsed!

I think we'll see a lot less of them when the current ones expire and people don't get replacements...then we may see the police inundated with reports of "vehicles with out of date / no tax disc" which will be hilarious.

Apart from 64 plate cars I've only seen one other car not displaying a disc.

Haven`t yet.. Certainly going to look a little strange when I do it. Haven`t noticed any cars near me which have theirs taken off either.

That's only because all my cars are broken down (as usual).
