Don't know much about these, any good?

A good price apparently, she just needs a shopping car with a bit more space than her 107. Cheap to run, small and easy to drive with occasional long distance work.

Gutless but the warranty/recovery package on them makes them an excellent choice as a utilitarian runaround. Beware, the panels are made from tin foil so they suffer a lot from supermarket dings.

I hate my OH's i20 with a passion but it's an very good car for what she wants.

Proabably a Kia Cee'd then? Mrspablo is ordering a new i10 for much of the same purpose, the new one is quite nice in the higher spec and its cheap as chips. Plus it means I can finally sell the god awful Corsa and hunt for an uberbarge.... smile

Sounds ideal smile can't be more flimsy than a 107?

The motoring equivalent of Horlicks, I'm not sure if a duller car has ever been built, that said as a means of getting from A2B at a reasonable price without using public transport I can see why people buy them.

Isn't the i20 the one which looked a little like the Corsa from behind? I thought it was a Corsa/Fiesta/Polo rival.

I've never rammed a 107 with a trolley to test it biggrin

The OH's died recently, it's 4 and a bit years old. It was collected by the AA, a new ECU was fitted and it didn't cost her a penny.

The package outweighs the car if you just want an appliance to get you from A to B with no worries.

People get wrapped up in the warranty. At the end of the day your paying a lot of money to buy a brand new Kia these days. I've seen Picantos for well over 10 grand. What's that all about?

i10 = Picanto, i20 = Rio, i30 = C-eed, i40 = Optima. My Mrs like the ix20, its like a small C-Max.

The i20 isn't expensive and for some buyers the package is more important than the car.

It's probably as good a car from a "white goods" perspective as there is in that segment. They have an exemplary reliability record, a decent warranty and they drive perfectly well for their intended use. If I was asked to recommend a car in that sector for someone with no interest in driving or cars, it'd be somewhere near the top of the list.

It is, however, getting on a bit now. There must be a replacement due out pretty soon which will probably be a significant step forward.

A bit harsh I think, What rivals are so much more exciting for the price?
