It might be fast but desirable? Supercars are plenty quick enough as they are and most/all are an emotional purchase. Something that sounds like a hairdryer is unlikely to "mop up" the market and the average supercar buyer couldn't give a flying fk about fuel consumption.
Have you driven one? I've ordered one and although I fit firmly into the 'couldn't give a flying fk about MPG' category, driving a hugely powerful electric car is a unique experience. I won't be parting with my conventional engined cars, because I enjoy them immensely, but I'm not missing out on this and I'm more excited about getting my hands on it than any other car I've ever bought.

Did your ancestors go about smashing up spinning frames and power looms?

There's no escaping this stuff because it's just better.

There will always be a love for characterful internal combustion engines, not least from me, and people will still be able to indulge themselves with these but the majority who use cars as mere transport appliances will move on and people seeking ultimate performance will move on too by the looks of things.

People love steam trains and were sad when the diesels replaced them but they were just better. Steam enthusiasts can still knock themselves out messing around with them today.

I finally got my i3 2 days ago. Only 175 hp. But floor it on a Green at the lights and people are still finding their biting point whilst I'm off down the dual carriageway. Don't even need a handbrake so you just stamp on the pedal and off you go. Very addictive. Seriously - no exaggeration, whilst I've already covered 100m, people are just getting away off the line. I keep giggling like a girl every time I get the chance to do it. I suggest you test drive one just to find out what its like. Telsa or i3. Tell them some bloke on the internet recommended them.

I test drove an S last weekend from their Knutsford showroom, the tech has me straight away and what they have in the pipeline is truely amazing, in terms of the car the build quality and the acceleration is immense, you can easily get addicted to it if I'm honest.

Would I buy one, no not yet, but that's more to do with me and their current line up... I don't need 4 seats or anything that big to be honest, if a smaller car was on their roadmap then I'd be tempted for sure.
