Really fast cars v bikes?
Discussion
Some things in life are clearly remembered no matter what age one reaches, and I can remember my first go on a quick bike, I was absolutely howling with delight at the sensation of winding it up in the lower gears. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. The trouble was, I knew that not having done much on motorbikes, carrying on with a bike of that performance I would be buying the farm fairly quickly, So I stick to cars. Unfortunately the bikes rider who competed every year at the IOM TT topped himself on it not so long after I tried it out. TBH despite his skill level (and his Cohones dimensions, which were staggeringly high) I was not surprised to hear of his passing.

PS, Can any one really say that watching bike racing is not more exciting than watching cars race? especially between MotGP and F1.
There is often more passing in one bend in MotoGP, that there is in ten laps of F1.
Really? I remember a lot of my biker friends complaining about how boring MotoGP was - BSB/WSB/WSS was where it was at.There is often more passing in one bend in MotoGP, that there is in ten laps of F1.
In the same vein, the best racing from a spectator's point of view in my opinion is Ginetta Juniors.

Oh dear...billy big balls is it That was the first sesssion of the day and I spent most of it dodging traffic so did indeed fail to get into a rhythm. This one any better? Only a 1.45 lap so not my best but I'd only ridden that bike once and hadn't even begun to play with the setup:P.S. try hitting a few apex's.

Can I just say that given that you also have YT videos available, you might have been advised to keep quiet.
The one you have of Cadwell gives a best lap of 1.53 without the chicane so maybe 1.58 with it? That's on an R1 with about 150bhp. I was doing 1.44s on my second ever time at Cadwell on a bog standard £800 ZX6R G2 (maybe 100bhp given the mileage?), with the chicane so can I suggest you wind your neck in? Neither of us is Marquez but I'm a st load quicker than you if that matters for expressing my opinion
By the way, top tip...try hanging off the bike in corners;)
Something not quite right there.
I'm calling bullst.
Some guys are quicker than him on here, mckean, paul25 but going off that video your not one of them.

Yes. Comparatively superbikes are more entertaining to watch than motoGP but they all blow F1 out of the water in terms of excitement. In the same vein, the best racing from a spectator's point of view in my opinion is Ginetta Juniors.
This is a good season for F1 viewing, but it's still not up there with a mediocre motoGP season.
Random thoughts:
The fastest car I've driven was a Formula Ford (at 18, having never driven anything faster than an economy special 1.6 mk3 Cavalier) and the fastest bike was a Fireblade (having never ridden anything faster than an ER5 at the time).
At the time, The FF felt like a rocket and quite twitchy, but I never felt as if I was going to be physically incapable of hanging on. I'd like another go.
The Fireblade tried to yank my arms off and my hand almost came off the left grip after releasing the clutch and giving the throttle a good twist.
-It was quite an eye-opener and made me realise that I didn't need such a fast road bike - My current Street Triple, without ABS or TC, is a great road bike with a superb engine and chassis(once the suspension has been fettled)and riding it is very different to driving on the same roads.
For whatever reason, The currently popular (and impressive feats if engineering) Golf R's and M135i's etc have very little appeal to me.
Ps. I had a drive of a very thirsty older Audi S6 a couple of years ago and, unsurprisingly, it didn't feel all that fast or raw compared with bikes. Quite underwhelming.

I thought this was supposed to be a thread about REALLY fast cars vs bikes, so why are people mostly talking about Ferraris and other supercars?
You will need 1000BHP+ and to start from a roll, buts bikes ain't so tough .

Like I said, there are videos on there of me going faster, and on a slower bike, he just picked out the worst he could find and decided to post it up just to take the piss (what kind of prick does that by the way?). The ironic thing being his "not as quick as I can go video" is so much slower than my "not as quick as I can go video".

You wouldn't think I was a prick if I trawled through your YT channel and posted up one of your videos so I could take the piss out of your riding?I picked the video that was on your profile page.
There is no video on my profile page, there's a link to my channel.

Iv'e just clicked on your link on your page and there's a bike video to the left and 3 car ones to the right.
Your riding is piss poor and piss slow, I haven't looked at any other of your videos.
Just make sure you turn up at least one TD I am on next year and we'll see whats what.
I'll take that as long as you say the same about your own riding then, as we've only got two tracks to compare and you're a lot slower on both of them. I doubt I'll be doing any bike TDs next year but as I say, I'd be interested to see how fast you are at Cadwell if 1.44 is piss slow for you on a stock 90s 600.Your riding is piss poor and piss slow, I haven't looked at any other of your videos.

The lads I've named ie; paul25 is a club championship winner and I can tell you he wouldn't give John a 10s start even on equal bikes, you think your faster than him too?
Your digging yourself a deeper hole.

Oh, I am into the 1 min 30's at Cadwell.

No I don't think that at all. I simply compared the video he picked out as an example of my riding with his video of Cadwell. I've no doubt he can go quicker than that these days, at least I'd bloody hope so! Of course I'd probably be a lot quicker if i did another few years of bike trackdays too...The lads I've named ie; paul25 is a club championship winner and I can tell you he wouldn't give John a 10s start even on equal bikes, you think your faster than him too?
