Following on from the comments in the mid life crisis thread, how do you think you're perceived when others see you in your car?

Now, I don't care what people think when I'm driving my 20 year old BMW 5 series barge; I just like how it drives. It's not particularly shiny or modified from original, so when people see me (mid 40s age) in it I assume they are either thinking "bmw geek" or perhaps just "can't afford a newer car".

However I would be interested to know how others see me.

Or if you're feeling brave post a description of you and your car (or a photo) and what you think it says about you.

I drive an Impreza, not sure I need to eloborate on the image of one of these.

I'm late 20's, work as debt recovery and wear a hoody and jeans to work. Probably match the car haha

People probably think I'm a chav or a car enthusiast.

People frequently seem surprised when they realise I'm not a spotty 'youf' when I'm driving my 172 Cup!

The 996 is 13yrs old but still seems to give off the 'wrong' image sadly. I guess older 911's probably don't suffer so much from this being seen by most as classics.

Don't think my OH's Mk1 Focus has an image?!

Appallingly ghastly chav, or mid-life crisis, depending on the car.

If I lived in the UK it would probably be 'can't afford a 911'.

Here in Dubai people either don't care or think I drive quite a nice car and are happy for me.

I think your job says more than your car, though it depends what kind of debt recovery you do, who you work for and how you go about doing it. There is a special place reserved in hell for most debt recovery people.

Due to the colour, probably someone of questionable taste. The actual car... probably someone a bit mad.

"Couldn't afford a 911" to those poorly informed.

"Flash Prick" to the even more poorly informed.

Don't really care, I was surprised at the reaction it got from friends and aquaintances when I bought it, as many seem unable to look past the badge and realise its worth less considerably than many of their small engined, newish hatchbacks.
